customer service at both sitwell street and chapel street is diabolical. The staff are not welcoming and spend more time talking between themselves than acknowledging the customer. I hate having to use the stores but of course the co-operative have ensured that they have no competitors by having two stores in a small village. They obviously do not train the staff in customer service and get away with it, due to no competition.
Some of the staff are really good but you hardly ever see them, or they leave quickly. I always come out of the store in a really bad mood after being ignored, or being served by miserable staff. I cannot understand why the co-op promotes the community in its ethics but treats its customers who are part of our little community, as an inconvenience for entering the store.
Yet some people review saying the stores are good, is it that their face fits or are known by the staff? I have lived in spondon for 30 years, and very patient person, but after many experiences that i have described finally sercumbed this morning to leaving a bad review for the stores.

Went to the chapel street store to get a few essentials, I couldn't help but notice ( overhear) whilst queuing to pay the lady serving was being very loud and sharp with the younger chap serving with no consideration for his abilitys, when I got to my turn when I put the basket up to take items out i was barked at saying rudely I couldn't put it on the top, but I already know what I'm doing sorry! Then proceeded to leave all the items on till so I couldn't reach them, i know we are in lock down but if she doesn't want to be there, please leave many thanks have a nice day

Regards
