Co-op Food - Porthcawl - New Road

Good place to shop early in the morning. Nice store with plenty of stuff. The car park is small but everything else is top notch. Used to sell bargain bottles of Lucuzade which were cheaper than Greggs next door. Staff are always pleasant.

FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE MANAGER. I would like to share a review based on my visit today. I went to the CO OP new road store and found a deal in the fridge section for two pizzas and a tub of Ben and Jerry's for £5 I thought it would be a lovely treat for the family so decided to pick two pizzas and put them in my basket. I then went over to the freezer and found there was no ice cream of any sort there. I asked a member of staff stacking shelves if she would be able to tell me where I could find some incase I missed an alternative isle but she explained there was no ben and Jerry's available whatsoever as the freezer had packed in and I'd have to wait a week or so in order to get the deal. Not really bothered by this.... I went to the til to pay for my items and the guy (who was of a young age with brown blondie hair) said 'youd be much better getting a tub of ben and Jerry's with these pizzas itll be cheaper for you. I explained what the previous member of staff had stated to which he said ' I'll happily go to the back of the shop in our store room and get some for you if youd like, what's your preferred flavour? ' he came back with the flavour I wanted and saved me £2 odd on my items. The effort he made really represented the store so well it didn't go unrecognised, he's a credit to both the store and his work force and this guy really deserves a pay rise for the way he treated me today. He was respectful, had a smile on his face from start to finish and the customer journey was one I can say I haven't received in any other store I've visited in a long time.

Exceptionally rude, arguing with me and didnt give a receipt. Good job i asked for one as when we drove off she hadn't applied my Student discount!

Argued when i came back, back chat and shocking attitude. Asked for a manager and waited an age and they even called the Police! Chatted with them and they laughed and left.

Nicky then poisoned the apparent female manager who wouldnt deal with me,, taking nickys side without even talking to me.

A young male manager (Gwthan?) was then TOLD to serve me by CEO Nicky (🤣) and was pretty helpful. We had to bring all the shopping back into store, unpack bags, rescan to refund then rescan to buy again!!! 😡😡 This made me a lose a £1 app basket offer!

JUST REMIND NICKY her job is to help and assist customers. Minor job, minor wages is no excuse for a, disgusting attitude.

Terrible service, tried to scam us out of £5 by not applying a discount. Did not want to supply a receipt, rude and anti-English, especially the hateful Nicky,

Clean store, Nice Staff, However stock availability was very low, With Water bottles, snacks Etc. Low prices, Worth a visit

I realise that I was trying to shop on a Sunday in the midst of a lorry driver shortage (why I gave it 2 rather than 1 star), but really no stock on shelves for anything I wanted, ended up having to go somewhere else to get what I needed. I'm sure it's normally fine.

Slow service, one self service out of action and only one person on the manned till. Customers all in one queue as nowhere else to make a separate queue due to limited space and then a staff member stocking up tried to send people from the end of queue down to self service despite it constantly being used by the next person in queue. Lady on manned checkout stopped serving to assist an older lady who went directly to the till about a query with her Co op card. When she called for assistance another colleague came and this colleague then took over helping the old lady bit did so on the original till instead of moving her down so while this was happening nobody got served.
