I booked car hire in Madeira with CarTrawler via EasyJet car hire and paid nearly £1000 for two weeks car hire. I also booked a flight to Madeira from Bristol with EasyJet. The flight on 21 July took off with no problems but could not land in Madeira. We were eventually flown back to Bristol and our flight was cancelled. On Friday 22 we rebooked a flight to travel on 25 July and I rang CarTrawler to let them know that we would now be picking the car up on Monday. I was told that as we did not pick up the car at the appointed time the car hire was cancelled and that we weren’t eligible for a refund.
I have sent numerous emails to your customer service department who do not care at all about their customers. All I get is the same line - 'I would like to stress that we will always endeavour to reach a solution that is in line with the Terms & Conditions of your rental agreement.’ This is not an example of ‘world class, award-winning customer experience’ this is an example of doing things by the book and is nowhere near ‘delivering a great customer experience every time’.
I will sharing my experience so that everyone knows that if they book car hire with you and there are any delays or issues that they will end up seriously out of pocket and will be treated appalling.
Would never consider going with them again
1. First the terms are not clear, you buy a full insurance and then end up at the actual car rental company putting up the excess or paying another insurance. The prices on the website were shown in local currency and then switched to euros for the excess amount.
2. The reservation cannot be changed at the car rental company. I wanted to change the main driver and add a me as a secondary driver but no, you have to cancel the whole reservation and loose every thing if you want to change. And yah, of course you get a higher price. So the solution is to keep what you have.
3. The full insurance is a scam. You pay one and at the car rental company you have to pay another to get rid of the excess(or provide a credit card). What is the point of doing this on this website if you have to do it again at the car rental company ?...
4. It is not clear what is covered what is not. They say "The car rental company may ask you for another insurance but you already have one..."
My flight was delayed, so when I reached the car rental company (Green Motion) the office was closed. I tried to call Rental24h and Green motion many times. All I got was pre-recorded messages. However, none of the options provided in those messages applied to my case. I went to Green Motion again the next morning to pick up the van and was told none available. The manager in Green Motion reviewed my case and told me that the rental will be cancelled and no fee would be charged because I did do everything in my power to honor the contract. I patiently waited for 45 days for my refund and got nothing but marketing email from rental24h. I contacted renta24h today and was told I cannot get a refund because I didn't put in my flight number. Even though I have my boarding pass and all flight data are available online, they wouldn't give me a refund. I assume Green Motion cancelled my booking and all £1,400 went to rental24h.
My experience is this company and its whole operation is designed to rip you off.

Booked a car through EasyJet Car, because my flight was late and the Car Rental Desk was closed, they canceled my reservation for "No Show" and keep all prepaid money without offering any alternative or penalty for late Pick Up.
This despite I correctly communicated the flight number in the reservation.
Skip this company and book directly with the car rental company, you will be more protected in these situations.
Costumer service practically useless, they cannot move or rebook reservation and all they do is sending premade email telling how sorry they are.
