I have to go to this place once a year in regard to my rent rising. Usually it is dealt with simply, swiftly and politely, but a couple of times in the last few years I've been treated as if I was making an unreasonable request, kept waiting for ages (it was not busy), then asked pointless questions they obviously already knew the answers to.
I honestly believe they were messing with me as an act of cruelty.

Exeter City Council customer service. Whether I leave a one star or five star review is somewhat irrelevant since to comment on the customer service is to imply that it exists. It doesn't. I contacted ECC via their website on 18/12/21. An auto response advised I would get a response within 5 working days. As it was the run into the holiday period I allowed a good period of time to pass for a response. On 17th January I followed up with an enquiry to the leader of the Council. I haven't had a response to this day to either enquiry. Clearly the employees at the Council have the same contempt and disregard for members of the public that their elected members do.

I've always found the staff on the Council Tax team to be very helpful and understanding; however, whoever is in charge has decided that they won't open the phone lines on a Tuesday. Genius.

I hadn’t received my letter regarding the council tax rebate by the end of June so called to check on the status of this. Jenny was extremely helpful and sorted it out personally within an hour, very friendly and extremely swift and helpful!

Exeter City Council , you give them big council tax and they have bigger wages than you , if its services you want do it yourself as they are not interested...
The five stars are for the way they scam ordinary people , if everyone in uk stopped paying coucil tax what could they do about it , we stopped poll tax so why do we accept council tax

Just spent the last 8 minutes calling the council, a total of 21 minutes today and the same as I did on Monday and Tuesday and no one answered the call. This is not a complaint, just warning people what to expect when trying to contact the council. No point complaining as you will be given the standard answer of how great the council are despite not being in their offices since March 2020. Please return to work, everyone else has, service wasn't great before covid, however it is awful now, stop saying you're following guide lines,go back to work, no more excuses.
UPDATE
I think the fact that it's taken you over one month to reply to my review proves the point I was trying to make. Not good enough 😕

Stopped sending council tax bills 3 month's ago so we have no idea what to pay? All of a sudden we get threatened we court action if don't pay immediately. We have always payed upto date and we have no idea why you stopped it but quick enough sending out stupid court letters? If anyone needs taking to court it's you lot for building everywhere and changing the city for profit. I've put a formal complaint in and hopefully we get our monthly bills again.

Why have you all not gone back to work, you are local government offices, and as such, should be setting an example and going into work. Trying to get hold of anyone is so frustrating.

Still not back in the office, went last week to renew my parking permit, and was told nobody is back in the office, and I should just ring a number to renew, WELL PUT THAT ON THE BLOODY WEBSITE THEN!

Several very distressed people outside the offices, obviously hoping to speak to someone face to face, but nobody there.

Current guidelines are to go back to work, so why aren't you?
