As can be expected with a busy service, they were running a little late and we’re super apologetic about this which was nice of them but the wait wasn’t too long at all.
They were really welcoming and understanding of my situation and quickly identified the issue and gave me a prescription as well as further advice to help ease the pain I was experiencing and the mitigate it in the future (wisdom teeth 🙄)
Friendly and understanding staff, thank you!
If I were you I would find somewhere else.
Highly recommended. Efficient and quick service and everyone at the practice are very nice.
The dentist tested my sensitivity by shoving ice on my painful tooth without any warning.
He gave me a temporary filling and said he would replace it with a permanent one after a week, provided it was not causing me pain (and thereby needing a root canal).
When I came back in a week, he refused to place the permanent filling and suddenly said I needed a crown over the temp one which would be at minimum £400.
I can't afford that, so I'm left having paid for a filling but only having a temporary one. I came all the way in just to have ice shoved on my gums again that left me in the same pain I came in complaining of to begin with!
I arrived, greeted the receptionist who completely ignored me at first and carried on chatting to other staff members and tapping on her computer. Even once done there was no hello, just asked for my name and instantly told me to pay £55 before being seen. She then thrust the receipt at me and told me to wait upstairs. I wasn’t sure where upstairs was so went the wrong way before finding it myself.
The waiting room was tiny and cramped, the worst harsh lighting, looked dirty and smelt like it was housing Canterburys homeless, on top of feeling really ill i sat there desperately trying not to gag and covering my nose.
After about 15 minutes the dentist came out, asked me why i was there. I explained i was in a lot of pain and desperately needed my wisdom tooth taking out. She instantly told me i have to be seen 3 times for the same problem so that wasn’t likely to happen today, i was then given an x-ray and told as well as it being impacted i had an ulcer. and the nerve is close to the tooth so i was just to wait and see if the pain gets better on it’s own. I was also warned that having 2 lots of antibiotics at the same time was likely to cause oral thrush, she then gave me an unreadable prescription of 15 antibiotic tablets and sent on my way.
When arriving at the chemists they too struggled to read the prescription, my name had been spelt wrong and my address was so unreadable they couldn’t find me on the system which caused a long delay, on top because they classed my appointment as an emergency i had to pay just under £10 for the 15 tablets so in total £65 for a pointless 4 minutes. Honestly i could cry, we’re in a cost of living crisis, i pay tax like many others and £65 is a lot of money to me. I wouldn’t mind if i was given a proper service and the problem fixed but i feel worse off than i did before and now wish i’d stayed at home.
