An independent enquiry resulted in my experience here. The female dentist scraped my cap leaving an ugly metal line in my tooth. I complained. She denied it. The receptionist is rude. The dentists were always clumsily knocking my teeth with instruments and administering of injections were so painful they brought tears to my eyes. I am of course now with another dentist 'Lodge'. The difference in treatment is amazing.

Unfortunately , I have had poor experience at my last two visits at Gateway Dental practice . The first one , the dentist did not introduce themselves which is basic courtesy when dealing with another human being . I had to ask who they were as it is impossible to tell if you are seeing a dentist , an assistant or any other health care professional .
The second visit the hygienist introduced herself and proceeded with what I was scheduled for the day -Dental filling and scaling after mumbling something which I didn’t catch. As my eyes were closed , didn’t realise she had proceeded with LOCAL ANESTHIC WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
If I was informed , I would have chosen not to have it . I now have a numb quarter face for 4 hours for a 1 minute drilling and filling which I have tolerated easily in the past without anesthetic.I have given feedback to the professional after my procedure.

Horrible place from start to finish. Receptionist rude and on helpful. Dentists charge often which is annoying. If ur nervous about going to the dentist then I wouldn’t go here. I have a needle phobia and was told I was stupid by the dentist! Also fillings last about 2 weeks before dropping out and they charge you again to replace. He removed 3 crowns to clean underneath them and now they keep coming off which they didn’t for the 10yrs before I went there. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!!

Excellent dentist. Been going here for many years. No issues whatsoever and friendly treatment. Very good at preventative care.

Dentist George and Sally (nurse) provided me with the best dental experience I've ever had.
I have had phobia of being in the dentist's chair throughout my adult life, and the only thing that has ever made the difference is an excellent "bed side manner" type trait. I find that trait often lacking. A calming empathetic practitioner that explains what they need to do and with the assurance to me that it'll be worth it. Not to mention the awful ultra sensitivity of any potential and of course actual pain one can experience.
On this visit I had two teeth extracted under sedation. A trip I was dreading, and the anxiety resulted in little sleep the night before.
I have to return a week later for one final extraction, but following this first experience, I can honestly say I'm just happy enough to get on with it and confident I'm in great hands. I wouldn't go as far as saying "looking forward to be at the dentist" - that's a bit of a stretch. But knowing that George and Sally will be taking care of me, and with the process they administer, I'm really not feeling anxious as I had previously.
Their staff at the front friendly which also just helped the whole experience.
I'm so glad that these people are there. Thank you.

Patronising and rude. Treatment hap hazard and difficult to arrange. "Can't do anything until September!"

Had to go to an emergency dental appointment today at Gateway and honestly blown away by the service from the receptionist staff, the dentists and assistants. Despite my nerves, I was made to feel very comfortable & safe and the dentist explained the procedure in full, ensuring that I knew I could stop and take a break if need be. A pain free process and the level of customer care is amazing.

Highly recommend this dentist. I have tried most dentists in and around Abergavenny and this is where I have felt the most comfortable. Kath has always been so kind.
