I then came in to get the new crown fitted, they did not have the correct cement. Was rebooked an appointment which mysteriously disappeared off the system.
I was told I have to call in myself to find cancellations.
I've now decided to go to a different dentist to get my crown cemented. I haven't been able to eat for 2 weeks and have had huge issues as it was a front tooth. Really really disappointing.
I'm an incredibly nervous patient and not only have they been very patient with me but also incredibly accomodating.
I now go every 3 month for a cleaning and check up, I also get consulting on restoring my smile.
One of the most important thing that have been said to me in this practice is that they wouldn't sell me the most expensive treatments even if I asked for them, if I didn't need them.
I recently had some cosmetic fillings done and they were perfect, quick and afforaddble.
If you are new to the area like me, this dentist is amazing.
I rang the day before the appointment as my daughter works for Test and Trace and had been asked to work on the emergency surge testing taking place locally therefore I needed to cancel her appointment. I clearly stated my daughter’s name and time of appointment.
I did not mention my son or his appointment time.
When my wife arrived with my son she was told his appointment no longer existed. My wife explained that the cancellation was for my daughter and she had been present when I had made the phone call. My wife said that I had clearly stated my daughter’s name and time of appointment. I had not even mentioned my son.
My wife was told by the receptionist that my son’s appointment had been cancelled and all the appointments were now taken as it was a half day and he could not be slotted in.
My wife asked for a complaints form. She was told that the practice didn’t have any.
My wife returned home with my son.
It is not acceptable for the practice to behave this way. People take time off work for appointments. For the practice to turn around and say there is nothing they can do is unacceptable. It was their error.
I rang the practice to complain.I asked whether the practice could remain open slightly longer and honour my son’s appointment as it was only a check up. I was told that the practice manager would call me back. The practice manager is a dentist apparently therefore she would call me when she had finished with the patient she was with. I am still waiting and the practice is now closed.
I accept that mistakes can be made and that sometimes people are busy.
I would suggest that the surgery needs to reconsider its recruitment process if a receptionist can mistake an obvious female name with an obvious male name and cannot understand the time 10:15.
I would also suggest that the surgery needs an effective complaints procedure.
It would also seem that the practice needs a proper practice manager rather than a dentist operating two roles at once.
Finally perhaps the practice should consider how it communicates with its clients rather than just brushing them aside particularly as the current pandemic has made it difficult to get appointments and clients have had to wait a long time to get appointments... only for some idiot to cancel it.
