The Works

This is a lovely shop, full of great books and other gift ideas. From fidget spinners to art and craft sets, this shop is a must visit for those things you are looking for to entertain and educate your children. Lots of things for grown ups too.

The staff are friendly and helpful, you can order in what you need and collect in store. And the prices are very good too.

Right in the middle of the city precinct, there's no reason not to pay this place a visit :)

Love this shop! Very conveniently placed in the city centre. It's a reasonable sized shop with a good mix of craft stuff, books, kids books and crafty items. Don't forget the kids toys, stationery, gifts oh and they now do birthday cards! There isn't a lot you can't get, no clothes or shoes! Good for click and collect too.

I like shopping in the Works, but I do always find it a little overwhelming on the senses. I can't browse here because there is too much going on. That said, I went in with a purpose in mind and came out with what I wanted.

My mission was to get a book or books for my daughter's school friend's birthday.
I came away with 4 books, priced at £1.50 each. Each one has a traditional tale but with a focus on phonics (yep, I'm that mum 🤣)

Always find The Works to be well priced. Their craft selection is usually good and I'm looking forward to purchasing some Christmas crafts in the near future.

My favourite place on Earth! SUCH a variety, always stocked up!! Staff are always very kind, fun and smiling!! Probably think I am crazy because always when I walk in I come out with around 20 books. :D I have a channel where I review books I have read and also do so on GoodReads and thanks to this place I can actually afford to buy and read so many different brilliant works!! :)

A great place to buy some more Christmas presents if you are after books, games, arts and craft items and much more at very reduced prices. All the tills were being manned so the queue went thru pretty quickly too. Friendly And helpful staff. This shop is one that you'll visit time and time again.

Hand sanitiser on the door. 20 birthday cards for £1- bargain! This shop is a bit cramped and hard to move round the craft area AND social distance but that's why I went Christmas shopping at the beginning of October before the crowds start

I love The Works, but I wish they would use price stickers that can be easily removed from the front of book covers. I've ruined 2 books today trying to get the price sticker off, which is a shame when you buy books for gifts. Please can this be considered?

A great place for books…and, some way cheaper than Amazon!
Smack bang in the city centre and full of books, small toys, puzzles and crafts.
Very good value for money too.
Put down your tablets, phone and laptops and get creative! Or wind down and quietly read be it learning, fiction and nonfiction.
Learn to draw or paint it’s got lots of choices.
Go on! Do something different!
