Found Sally at Sew&So on Google.
Said she had 15+years experience with garment alterations. I rang her to ask about shortening the hem of a satin maxi dress for my daughter's beach wedding. She said to take it to her with the sandals I wanted to wear. Me and my daughter went to her house on Tuesday 31st May where I tried on the dress with the flat sandals I would be wearing on the wedding day.
I told her I didn't want to see the sandals or my feet until I walked along the sand to give my daughter away. She measured the bottom of the dress and said there was 9inches to take up. She pinned it up and I was happy that I couldn't see sandals until I walked. Left the dress with her and my daughter picked it up the following day Wednesday 1st June. When I tried the dress on it was too short and the hem was not straight also there was no hem left to turn down as she had cut all the extra material off and machined a hem that you can clearly see the stitches. The dress is ruined and it's too late to get a replacement one as we fly out on 11th June. I rang Sally and all she said was "what do you want me to do about it?'. I said well you're supposed to have 15+years experience. She then said there is nothing I can do!
I have been in touch with Citizens Advice who have told me the procedure to follow.

Just be warned only go to Sally if you want your garments ruined and her to show zero remorse.

We had an emergency alteration on the morning of the wedding for the best man, sally was fantastic in the work she did, dropped a day out with her family and completed the work we needed with time to spare. Absolutely brilliant!

Sally was amazing. I called her up to enquire if she could do something not listed. I asked if she could put a backing on an embroidered quilt I had made. Offered for me to take it straight away as it was for a baby due anytime. Picked it up a few hours later. And it is a fab job. Would highly recommend her services.
