While on holiday earlier this month, our hotel recommended Classi Clean as a nearby location to take our clothes for washing since there were no laundrettes in the vicinity. After trying to call a couple times with no answer, we decided to walk our bag over in person, around 3:30 Pm on a Friday afternoon. A sign was posted on the door that provided a different number to call since they had stepped out. Upon calling, a gentleman came over from a shop around the corner and offered to help as he was watching the store for his friend. We explained our need, he called the owner's cell and we spoke with the owner as well. He confirmed they can wash the clothes, one load in cold, and very clearly said he would have them delivered to us the next day, Saturday, by 5 Pm. We hung up and gave his friend the bag, 15 pounds cash and took a receipt from him (which he didn't want to write up initially..).
Saturday evening came and went with no returned laundry. We tried calling all the numbers we had; the friend answered and said he had no idea then hung up on us, and the owner's cell was turned off.
Sunday morning, phones all went straight to voicemail now and we had plans to get to. Sunday afternoon, we walk over to the shop and a new sign on the windows states "Closed for holy week." We call again and the owner finally picks up (never returns our voicemails), and said everything was delivered yesterday. We are upset at this point and ask what he'd like us to do, have the hotel get involved, call the police, etc. He gets irate, believes we are threatening him and hangs up. He calls back an hour later after he has looked into the situation and explains that the Uber driver delivered to the wrong hotel, and will fix the mistake shortly. Very late Sunday night, we get back from dinner and finally have a bag of laundry waiting for us at the front desk.
We take the bag to our room and open it Monday morning. Unfortunately they had left the clothes slightly damp, and after sitting in a tightly wrapped plastic bag for over a day, each piece smelled strongly of mildew. We then noticed that there were 4 shirts missing, of the 10 we initially brought over. We called and he said he'd look into it. We walked over with photos of the shirts, his friend was manning the "closed" shop again. We call later in the day, no answer.
Tuesday morning comes, we call him again. He answers and said the shirts are at the front desk. This time they actually are, all hung up in their own separate dry cleaning bags, and all slightly damp but we remove them immediately before they can start to smell.
Over all this time, no apology was ever given, no kind words or any concern shown by the owner or friend. There was way more stress involved then portrayed as above are the straight facts. We were 5,000+ miles from home in a foreign country, on vacation with a limited supply of clothing (traveling light), using a US number to call a UK number which sometimes did and often did not work, dealing with gentlemen who did not seem to understand English very well, having to re-wear dirty clothes and eventually buy a couple new shirts, getting the hotel staff involved, even calling non-emergency to determine what to do. To deal with something like this from a business over a 4-day period from is unacceptable. At least we finally got all our clothes back the day before we flew back.
Very disappointing experience to say the least. Never again will we have laundry done on holiday because of this "business."
I have never encountered such bad service. We were visiting London and staying next door so it seemed like a convenient place to drop off my husband's shirt and trousers to be cleaned as we were heading to a wedding that weekend. Clothes were dropped off on a Tuesday and we were told they'd be ready by Friday (already not a very quick service).
On Thursday I stopped by to double check the clothes would be back. The elderly man, hard of hearing with very bad English (not the best person to have front of house!) assured me they would arrive Friday morning.
Lo and behold, Friday morning they are nowhere to be seen. He promises they will arrive by the afternoon. I say that we MUST have them by noon as we are leaving by train for the wedding. The guy says he will get them himself and pretends to lock up. Two minutes later he is back in the shop. and doesn't seem to understand my further questioning. Needless to say, no sign of the clothes in time.
I went back after the wedding to try and get the clothes, the place was closed with a phone number on the door. Called the number, a man who runs an unrelated shop nearby comes in, takes my ticket, can't find the clothes and says he needs to stop looking and run back to run his own shop (understandably).
No sign of anything after 2 weeks, and then we had to leave the country.
This was a very expensive, privately tailored suit and shirt which also had a lot of sentimental value - zero offer of a refund or apology. Bottom line, they either lost or stole the clothes.
There's another dry cleaner round the corner, GO THERE!
The man behind the desk does not understand or speak any English and the customer service provided was absolutely awful.
The place should be shut down.
After being asked to pay before any services were completed, I was then refused a refund as the old man did not know how to work the machine.
I was told to come back when the manager was in but it seems he is never in store. Avoid at all costs
Update for the owner...your response is borderline Trump-esque in shifting the blame and outright lying. The shirts had no food stains at all...they had some suncream staining on the collars....that's it. And not "old" stains...two days old. I pointed out these stains at the outset when I took the shirts in. I suggest when you "Look into" matters, you do so with a bit more diligence next time.
