I had 14 circuits in total but my 1st invoice stated 17 circuits tested (3 of wich were contactors in the board associated with underfloor heating). The additional 7 ccts were charges at £18 each more than the cost per circuit based on 10 circuits for £120. As I am technically experienced I challenged this and got 3 circuits removed but no appology or acceptance they made a mistake and was still charged an additional £76. Note they imply the test and inspection takes 2 hours but the electrician was only on site for 50 mins so see no justification to chage more.
The cost of the test was £196 and the electrician was in my property for a total of 50mins. Expensive. Note the cert is a template and the meters used for EICRs takes and stores all necessay readings so the report activity take 30 mins max. hourly rate pretty much over £100 per hour.
I then recieved the report and had multiple C2 failures aroud RCD protection. RCD protection is required in all new installations but are not required to be retrospecfully appied unles there are instances where a clear and present saftey issue. These observations should have been C3 recomended and I confirmed this with the IET as I am a member or the IET. I raised my concerns with them several times and rather than investigate the facts, I ended up doing this myself.
Also told 2 underfloor hearing circuits needed RCBOs as they were rated above 20 amps. No such reg exists. Again I challenged and in the end confirmed with the IET. Not modern istallations install RCD protection to all underfloor heating not just ones over 20 Amps but this is not retrospecivly enforcable and presents no major risk as the installation in the flat was compliant to 1996 regs and protected with suitable MCBs. RCD prtection here is only an improvement.
It gets worse, they correctly identified bathroom lights should be IP44 rated. But for remedial works of 4 RCBO Breakes and 2 lights they charged £420 plus vat £504. This is 1 hours work. I honestly though bearing in mind I declared I was an IET member and used to be a electrician they would change tact but they charge this crazy price.
Why did i go ahead you ask, well I asked what would the cost would be if I did the work myseld i was told I would have to pay for a re-test so £196. So they had me over a barrel and I was invested in this rip off. The cost of materials is £25 for each RCBO including vat. The bathroom lights are chepest posible so £25 each including VAT so parts £150. Labour over £300 for an hours work (time on site 1 man confirmed by tenant). Sevice and politness 5 starts but value for money 1 star every day and I question their technical knowledge.
Why have I posted this, I dont want others to be ripped off. This is a company taking advanatge of the LAW which now requires these EICR tests for rental properties. If you need a test go to an organisation that only does testing and if there are remedial works required get them done by third party. Also agree retest conditions before you proceed. I have multiple properties and I will not make this mistake twice.
Also note Star Reviews will only let you give a review if your are invited by the company following works. I was not invited to give feedback. Stange!! So 120 5 star reviews means very little when only happy customers are invited to feed back. Another lesson learnt by me.
Was by far one of the most competitivly priced quotes I searched, and only paid for what was quoted and no hidden fees.
Was completely easy to get quote, book a date and time which suited me through their website.
Would 100% recommend.
Thanks.
Especially the one from ROBIN DAIEE. if I had done so I HAVE SAVED MYSELF MY MONEY AND I would not be writing this review.
I used them as they advertised a competitive price cost structure. 2 bed flat 10 circuits for £120. I rent this flat out the service was fast, and prompt,. So why 1 star well they would not let me leave a review without starring them quite frankly I would not have given them any stars why? because they are dishonest.
Why are they dishonest because after my inspection I received this e-mail.
Good morning,
Please find attached our invoice showing payment made for the EICR at
This payment was for up to 10 circuits on the consumer unit. On inspection there were 14 circuits found, so there is an extra payment due of £60 plus VAT (4 x £15 Plus VAT). One this is paid we will happily forward your certificate.
Many thanks in advance,
Kind Regards,
So I paid what did I receive no pass certificate only a rejection and a quote for over £900.00 to obtain a safety certificate in their view!
Again, READ ROBIN DAIEE review
