This is my experience.
Our High Commission in London has every possible communication contact detail
to be reached via telephone, facebook or email address. However, it appears they are there for decorative purposes. I sent an email about renewal of Omang expiring August 2020 on 17th June, no response. Rang the two office lines, on 17th and 25th June, no response. It tells you, you have reached extension 221, and you get cut off. That's service provided...end of help.
Tota gatwe re dire jang?
Further more the fact the you can’t renew a passport unless it’s less than 6 months from the expirey date is strange (what I was informed) as most countries won’t let you travel an a passport this close to expirey, so you have to wait until you passports invalid before you can renew and it’s takes around 2-3 months for process to be complete, as Botswana nationals we deserve better systems.
The female member on the desk we lovely kind and compassionate, unfortunately the male member of staff I dealt with was very rude and patronising. My mother was from Botswana and passed as I was child and I have live here all my life there were some details I didn’t know eg address when born. He made me feel inadequate and when I explain my personal challenge he continued with no compassion.
I personally believe that Botswana national deserve more efficient systems of work and need to keep up with times. We shouldn’t have to wait to have an invalid passport to be able to renew, literally no country does this for obvious reasons.
