Staff were lovely here. Plus the food was gorgeous I had fish and chips and it was cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef. I recommend this place to anyone who would like Michelin star food without the big price. Will definitely eat here again when in the area.

Celebrated an 18th birthday here last night and had a fantastic evening. There were 24 of us and Zoe and the rest of the staff were really friendly and the meals were all lovely. We wouldn't hesitate in making another booking. Thanks again for a wonderful evening.

Nice friendly staff. Good parking.
Apple crumble was very nice considering how it was done all seperate. I worked out the custard had gone in the bowl first, then the fruit and finally the crumble but it tasted lovely.

Great pub, excellent beers. Good to stay and test some of them.

Booked really late but they went all out to accommodate us and getting us a table for 4. It was very busy but they had more than enough staff and waiting time was minimal. All the staff were attentive and very helpful. The food was excellent. We will certainly be going there again, hopefully very soon! We'll done!

The meals here were off the scale, amazing. From the 'foot long' fish to the most wonderful steak and Guinness pie, everything was top drawer, including the staff and service. We always 'score' pies, wherever we go and for 12 years 'the' pie referred to in our scoring system :) 'the' top pie was from the Buck Inn in Yorkshire. No longer, 'the' pie is now the pie from The Royal Oak. A superb evening all round, no faults found. Truly a lovely pub.

Reading the reviews from others we must have been at the wrong pub. Our meals were awful to say the least. How any chef can send meals out like we had is unforgivable. My sweet potato fries were burnt to a crisp and black, grilled tomatoe and mushroom overcooked and the two fried eggs on the other meal were cremated and unedible. All we got was 'sorry' when we showed the waitress the meals. Perhaps that is why the place is empty on a Saturday night. Never again.
