The church of St John the Divine at Shenton is another beautiful example in this area of unspoilt villages and countryside close to the historic Battlefield where Richard III was killed and the House of Tudor under Henry II then ruled England. The last time an English monarch would die in battle. Shenton village is tranquil and is unspoilt, is within easy reach of Market Bosworth and the Battlefield with its excellent visitor centre. The church and its grounds are superb and are very well cared for. Like most of the churches in the area there will be a connection with the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. The interior is beautiful and so peaceful. I strongly recommend a visit.
Shiv K P The Organist
One of the most beautiful churches in Leicestershire if not my most favourite. Whenever I am in dire need of a quiet and serene prayer, this church is my number one. Speaking as a church organist, the organ is beautiful too. Simple yet amazing for the size of the church. Just the whole church, the surroundings and everything about the area is so beautiful. I absolutely love it and I can't wait to visit it again. I have been visiting the church for my own personal needs through prayer and music since I was probably 12 or thirteen so more or less five years ago. Such a beautiful church.
