A wonderful way to experience a stretch of the southern Broads, between Beccles and the Locks Inn, Geldeston.
Not only that, overnight mooring is also available for a small fee, as is a water top up.
If you want to experience nature at its best, look no further. Kingfishers, owls, swans and otters are your neighbours. Along with some stunning views.

Lovely trip from Locks back to Beccles on the ferry, brought back memories from the past when great friend Paul ran it, shame the footpath was closed part way up which prevented us from walking to the Locks as planned. Applaud the work carried out by community pub, looks great and food good too. Recommend both pub and ferry.

Made a lovely day even lovelier!! Walked from Beccles to Geldeston Lock ph, had a great pint and great food and the added bonus of music to listen to and then a lazy meander down the river with Big Dog Ferry back to Beccles! A perfect day!

Decided at last moment to visit Beccles and were tempted by the ferry trip. Great decision: the trip was very relaxing and the Locks Inn was fine for an early lunch. Parking near the Lido was a bit of a problem (school holiday time) but parked in the street opposite the museum. Walked back along Angels Way

Beautiful and relaxing journey to a river side pub where you can have food and drinks or swim in the river. Great to spot wildlife. Highly recommended to anyone!

Enjoyed the trip from the Locks back to Beccles. The skipper was very helpful getting my 87 year old mother on board. The hardest part the sloping bank down to the boat!

Email confirmations were a bit weird - one stating the wrong time and another the wrong number of bookings. Luckily the attached invoice was correct (although we were never asked to show it anyway).

Lovely stretch of river. Would highly recommend.

A charming trip. We took the boat up to the Locks pub and walked back via the Angles Way. We saw about 8 kingfishers flying about during the journey. It was delightfully peaceful. The ferryman was polite and informative.

Lovely trip along the river on the Big dog ferry, great pub at the end and a fine walk back to Beccles. Only suggestion to make it a better experience would be for a chat along the way from the skipper telling the history of the area and the importance of Beccles together with a talk about the wildlife on the river 😊
