Crispy Cod

A great family run fish n’ chips shop; our favourite in the local area that is consistently good. Always fresh and been run by the same family since it opened about ten years ago, or so.
They are not the cheapest, but are one of the top three in the local area, along with Barracudas and Fishy Business in Upminster.
It is best to pre-order, especially on Friday so you do not have to wait for them to cook your fish fresh, and they do accept payment by cards now (08/2020).

We changed to this fish and chip shop after a previous one decided to mess us about and change our order. We used the Crispy Cod once, successfully, decided to go for it again, today, only to find that they had rejected our order at the time it was due to be delivered. No explanation, nothing. It was only by luck that I saw the order rejection on the Deliveroo page. A live chat with them confirmed that it had been rejected and all they could offer was that sometimes that happened when a restaurant is busy. Do you walk down the queue to your shop saying 'sorry, no, you're not eating tonight?' or just wait until they've waited 30 mins, paid and then just give them a refund? I'm going to say, no, you don't. Deliveroo said they would contact the restaurant so that it didn't happen next time. My response was and still is, "why would there be a next time?". I just don't get it. We might not have the biggest most expensive orders, but we're still customers. The fish and chips were great last time. This time I'm suddenly left scrabbling in the freezer for something to cook what is now a late meal.

Went there about 8ish had no fish at all.

Horrible chips and soggy fish batter and very expensive

Used 3 or 4 times & all been good. Haddock was large tasty & cooked well. Only 4 stars because chips tasted a bit oily.

Quite disappointed as this place came recommended from friends. Chips were plentiful and adequate. Nothing special. Fish had not been properly drained which made it very greasy. Sadly the fish had a smell which meant that it wasn't fresh. Not overpowering, but just enough to spoil the enjoyment. It was also quite small for the price.

Passing through the area today and was hungry and spotted Crispy Cod. Had the 'special' boxed fish and chips. And it was disgusting. Greasy slimy fish and way undercooked chips. 2 mouthfuls and it al went into the bin. Nasty.
