went there this evening, and very disappointed. we had been recommended here by a friend and it was awful. I understand being covid safe but wouldn't let 2 people from the same family in and they weren't even wearing masks. they could also politely ask to step outside rather than snap at you.it's also very slow service, we waited at least 25 minutes to be served and it wasn't even that busy. they were eating themselves and talking to someone I assume is a regular for at least 15 minutes. now the food - they were all completely stuck to the paper, the fish was dry and the batter was extremely oily. chips were average not good but not awful but everything is very greasy. we couldn't each most of it. the place itself wasn't very clean either, which I'm not expecting spotless but definatly needs a bit of a revamp! also the lady working the till needs to learn basic maths as we were given £4 less change than we should've got. overall, I think it's very hit and miss but we won't be going back. I would rather go elsewhere or to the Wetherspoons opposite.

Rude staff, snapping saying only one person at a time when came in with my partner, no manners what so ever joke really as they weren't wearing masks. Portion size, ordered large chips, hardly any chips very very small like a toddlers size and then they were mostly hard scabby dried up ends and greasy as anything and need to change the fryer oil as the chips where covered in bits. Sausages, cheapest option going no meat content what so ever, and battered Sausages had barely any batter on it. Wouldn't bother coming here again, waste of money. Only one star as it was warm and have to leave one to leave a review.

I made the terrible mistake of trying to spend my money at this local business. I'm very sorry and I won't be making the same mistake again.

I walked in the shop and was immediately barked at by a woman who loudly told me 'one at a time love wait outside!'.

Needless to say I didn't wait outside, I popped down the high street to a different fish and chip shop, Chippee, where I was made to feel very welcome and served a lovely fish and chips by somebody with manners.

I hope your rudeness and ill founded Covid paranoia serves you well for the future.

Apologies again for trying to spend my money in your shop.

Had gish and chips for the first time. They both tasted strange like the fat they had been fried in was burnt or old fat. Not nice threw most away.

The lady there is sooooooo rude... I will never come back she's horrible and shouldn't be there and the food is full of grease. I don't recommend at all.

Well what can I say. This is the first time I have visited. It certainly will be the last. I put my mask on as instructed. The blonde woman was so rude and snapped there's another person in here. I couldn't see the person. They were sitting in the corner. Then I asked for a Saveloy when I asked for a small cod & chips. Again she snapped. We don't do Saveloys but in such a rude manner. I decided to let that go but when she proceeded to cough everywhere ( without a mask) A real hacker of one. Disgusting woman. She should be wearing a mask!!! I then said forget it. Iv'e changed my mind. It made me sick to the stomach. She didn't even put her hand over her mouth. What a rude, awful & uncouth person. I shall never ever set foot in there again also instructing all my friends & family to do the same!😡

I recently moved to Honiton, I have enjoyed fish & chips from Chippy Joe's 3 or 4 times now & have always been delighted with the quality & size of the portions. I moved from Hertfordshire where you would pay at least 50% more for a much smaller portion.
I have always found the staff to be polite, helpful & friendly despite how busy they are.
May I suggest the lady that wanted "Chicken Nuggets" trys McDonald's.
Chippy Joe's is a Traditional fish & chip shop & in my opinion a Bloody Good One !
