Hikary's Fish Bar

We at our saturday night fish and chips from hikarys today and was very disappointed. Not only have the prices gone up but the potion size has gone down we normally order 2 large cod and small bag of chips that normally woulf feed 3 ppl but there was just enough for 2. The skin on the fish was thicker than the batter and had no taste. It seemed like they have taken on kids straight out of school who didnt know what they were doing and another lady barking orders to the girls out the back. In all not a very nice experience if this was my first time there i wouldnt go back . Sorry

Love Hikarys, the sausage in batters are amazing not too crispy and full of batter just how I like them. Thanks Nadine and Matt! Lovely friendly staff throughout the shop and always a smile on Their faces. Will never go anywhere else

Oh my Goodness! She types in place of many swear words!! Just had a Hikary small Fish and Small Chips x2 plus the mild curry sauce.......such an amazing portion size in both (oeeeer Matron)....tasted absolutely divine!!! BEST Fish and Chips ever truely! The Chips were crisp outwards with super fluffy centres ans the batter on the fish was perfect! Crispy not greasy just amazing! Curry sauce was amazing! Guys if you fancy a no cooking treat head to this eatery they are amazing!!!! 100 out of 10. And the staff were exemplary so polite and cheerful! X

Short version....Poor service today in Hilary's really rude girl serving, made a comment she thought I wouldn't hear, when challenged she went all quiet, and thought that ment we didn't deserve salt and vinegar on our food, dirty looks and entitled attitude.

Long version.... Ordered on Uber eats, driver ended up being sent multiple places before he could collect our order then would be sent to another place after collecting. So we looked at canceling so we could get it ourselves, we couldn't without being charged the full amount anyway, then got a notification to say sorry but it'll be another 40min due to unforeseen issues so just went to pick it up to get it earlier.

Got there before the Uber guy and by the time they got to me he arrived, we talked about me collecting it and he was apologizing for being sent places after it would be collected. I said it wasn't the end of the world just a hungry people at home.

We tried to explain to the girl but she didn't seem to understand, we had another go at explaining and were met with a dirty look and a huff and the words "whatever" then as she turned her back commented to a lady working there "why would you come and collect it like"
She either didn't think I would hear or that I wouldn't comment, I said "what was that love" loud enough to be heard and she ignored me, then when asked by the lady serving with her if we were having salt and vinegar sharply said no with a little grin, a pathetic show of power maybe?

When it was finish she put on the counter with a "There". I said "it was salt and vinegar on them and mind your manners" with a few seconds delay as I was leaving she started shouting something about "you ordered for a delivery service......" I'd opened the door before she started so no idea how that little tirade ended.

All in all poor as it gets, Franco's from now on I think.

The most disgusting chips I have ever tasted. I can honestly say I will never visit this place again. The food was expensive but I didn’t mind paying if the food was going to be nice but it was absolutely awful. The service was appalling, there must be new staff as this place has gone downhill, it used to be such a lovely chip shop. I threw my food in the bin. Thank goodness Shillingford’s is only down the road.

Always great quality to the food, no matter what you order. Quick service too. Always very helpful and friendly staff.

Hikarys fish bar in Neath has got to be one of the best fish and chips shop in Wales. It's a well organised shop with a good store room, very clean prep areas and the staff and food are outstanding. Single yellow line parking outside of the shop. Wheelchair friendly but not mobility scooters. Well worth stopping off for a bite to eat.
