Mariners

Was recommended to us, and while stated dog friendly, there was no water offered! Staff where nice and friendly the food wasn't as good as expected. We had booked a table for 6pm, and when we arrived they were out of chicken, beef dishes, I had the scallops which most were delicious but the last few I ate were sandy which spoiled the dish. Husband had a steak which he thought was quite small compared to other steak meals he has had. I had the lemon tart with sorbet. The sorbet was delicious the tart base was claggy and unpleasant so only ate the lemon top which was lovely.

Just my son and myself out for the day. After our boat trip we wanted food. My son wanted fish and chips so we end up at the Mariners. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff and because it was busy we were asked to wait 10mins. In less then 5 we were seated at a comfy window seat. My so ended up with the kids breakfast and Hot Chocolate. I had Cod and chips. Both reasonably priced. In fact the whole menu was reasonably priced. The food was excellent and the portions were really good. Even though they were advertising for staff. The service was fast, friendly and courteous. We really enjoyed our meal in The Mariners and will return.

Not enough stars to do justice to this outstanding fish and chip restaurant & take-away. I don't know what they do when cooking their chips, but I have never tasted better. There is an audible crispness (but not hardness) to them. A friend described them as almost being battered chips! I get what he means. There is a tempura like feel and crispyness to them. And I haven't gone on to speak of the other worthy things on their menu. On this holiday I discovered it is owned by the same delightful man who owns The Blue Bell bistro, next door but one. That explains a lot about the quality. Whatever you do in the cooking, please don't alter a thing!

We did the takeaway, fish and chips and battered sausage and chips, amazing good size fish (cod) and the chips 😍just the way I make them at home.

Super amazing chippy!!! The chips were fresh, hot and crispy. Really well priced as well especially for how popular and delicious they are. However be prepared to queue - I waited nearly 35mins and the line was all the way down the pavement! I can see why though as it's so good. This might just be because it was a busy weekend.

Went for fish and chips, there was a 15 minute wait as nothing was ready, loud dance music was being played.
The staff weren't sure who was doing what in the way of cooking the food.
When our food arrived it was perfect which made up for the wait, best fish and chips I've had in a long time

The best veggy breakfast I have ever eaten! Planned to eat in a place round the corner, but found out they were not serving breakfasts outside due to large Bank hol bookings, we had our dog with us so needed an outdoor option. That turned out to be great for us. The Mariners doesn't allow dogs inside so we had a takeaway and ate it on the harbour which was so lovely. The Glamorgan sausages were amazing and the amount you got for the price was awesome! £9.50 for a huge yummy breakfast and a really good coffee. Lady who served me was friendly as well. Would defo go back!

Fish & chips for £6.95 . Lovely fresh fish cooked lovely, the chips were lovely but a small portion to go with the fish. Visited here twice whilst staying at the nearby Haven complex. Both times the food was nice. Reasonable prices. Staff were friendly. Didn’t have to wait long as being end of October.
