Something Fishy

Taste wise, can’t fault the food. What I was disappointed in, however, was the portion size and customer service. Ordered a large portion of chips which felt like a small portion, and far smaller than I’ve had from there previously.

Worse yet, there minimum charge for card payments has now increased to £10? For a fish and chip shop?! That’s ridiculous. I wasn’t prepared for this and only had my phone to pay with Apple Pay, so couldn’t go to a nearby ATM as was suggested by the person serving me.

I’d ordered a large portion of chips and two saveloy which surely one would expect to be enough for a minimum card payment but no. It was suggested I buy a drink to bring it up to the minimum (which, aside from being daylight robbery for £1.20 for a cab, would not have been enough to get £10).

I added a third saveloy, which brought it to £9.40. You’d hope that surely we could ignore the 60p as a goodwill gesture? You thought wrong. So ended up spending £11.40 on an inadequate paltry portion of chips and two extra saveloy I had no plan on eating. But the worst part in all of this was the lack of compassion or willingness to make an exception from the member of staff who served me, who clearly would have been very happy for me to leave unsatisfied. Which is no problem going forward, unfortunately I will now be finding a new chip shop. Mr Chippy is near enough

Excellent fish and chips. We were told delivery 45mins, but to our delight arrived in 20mins. Thank you. Free sachet of tartare too.

First time I have ordered from Something Fishy. Very polite and patient on the phone while I placed my order to be delivered later in the day. Order arrived on time and the best piece of fish I have had in a long time, very good value for money, will definitely be ordering again.

Our first choice locally for fish and chips. Usually consistently good and never any issues.
Quite popular for sit in meals as well as takeaway.

Grabbed some dinner yesterday, the food was very nice, freshly battered and cooked fish, generous portions and lovely helpful staff

Uber order
No curry sauce and no liquor with pie and mash. £35 too much for their large (size tiny) chips with all the black bits in them. The pie was hard but the scampi was OK. I am furious!

Chips were soggy and pale. Not one was crisp. Hair in the gravy. Sticky tables. Cash only. Small portions.

Cod and chips are delicious.
