Don't be put off by the fact this is a fishery if fishing isn't your thing, the food in the cafe is excellent and I can highly recommend the breakfasts. Food is lovely and fresh and the bread in particular was delicious.
If on the other hand you enjoy fishing, there is plenty of options here from catching your own trout for tea to spending some family time catching smaller fish (and releasing them again). There are a number of ponds set within a nice landscape and with a peaceful atmosphere.
Staff in both the cafe and the fishing side were really friendly and we actually ended up having a trout donated to us, which ended up on our plates for tea, and which was totally delicious.
We're planning a return visit but to actually fish next time.

We made a special trip to try this cafe, shouldn’t have bothered!

The people seemed friendly enough. However, I had sausage, egg beans and chips. The sausage was deep fat fried and was so hard and dried out it was inedible, the chips were bland, my guess they were cheap frozen that were deep fat fried. The egg and beans were ok.

We won’t be back!

Great experience! Had a lovely day on the trout lake, caught 3 on maggots in the first 45 mins then switched to the fly rod (£4 hire is a brilliant price!) and caught another 2. Friendly chap running the place (presumably Tom), he even tied me a new leader on the fly line and recommended a couple of flies which did the business. Cannot recommend enough!
