Advantages:
- Can be very quiet at certain times of the day which is helpful for getting the equipment you want.
- Decent range of equipment given the smaller size of the gym.
- Did not have much interaction with staff during my time there but there are some friendly members which can make exercising more enjoyable.
Disadvantages:
- The equipment seems very old and tattered especially in the weight room, as all the benches are worn through and have holes in which have been repaired using black tape which is a rather gross and unhygienic.
- The building itself is very old which in itself isn’t an issue, until there is rainfall and there are often leaks coming through the ceiling and roof tiles missing.
- Whilst there are car parks a 5 minute walk away there is no on site parking.
- The most significant disadvantage to me is the situation with the air conditioning and how it has been delt with. They had the facility when I signed up to the gym, which was crucially important in my decision to go with this gym over other local ones. The AC has since been out of operation for over 2 months and now there is a fan placed in the corner of the room which just moves around the warm air making exercise almost unbearable, especially in the summer months. I asked a month ago when it would be sorted to which the response was it is being sorted. I have now left the gym as the current state of facilities is not what I signed up for. I am sure if you were to ask regarding the air condition now they will still say it is being sorted but if that was the response months back who knows how long it will take, as clearly the issue is hestance to invest in the repairs rather than waiting for someone to fix it which reflects their value of their customers. Whilst this may be sorted eventually it is a respresentation of the gym cutting corners financially which I believe is reflected in the facility and if you were to have a look round I am sure you would be able to recognise this too.
All the cardio and strength equipment is top level and well maintained and Nathan is easy going and makes you feel welcome.
I am by no means a Gym rat, or even look it! and I did NOT feel intimidated, in fact it was a pleasure to see people of all ages - and shapes! - working out.
Bottom Line - if I lived here, I would definitely be a member, and its good have a ‘home away from home’ to work out.
