Toilets could do with someone cleaning them regularly or... teaching some of the clients how to aim and flush.
Access is easy, the occasional staff member you see are friendly but the vending machines are not. Had £3.00 debited for 1 failed purchase of a bottle of Lucozade. Gutted but life goes on.
Pros:
- free parking is available for up to 4h (7am - 7pm). After 7pm parking (as far as I understand from the sign) is unlimited.
- friendly staff
- 24/7 access
Cons:
- some equipment could be better maintained
- very busy between 5-8pm but this isn't really a 'con' as every gym has this
- water fountain could be improved as it seems a little slow thus filling your water bottle is slightly longer (not a big issue of course but something to point out)
Regardless, defo a gym worth trying out!
Full of chavs quite honestly under 16 full of juice heads all with attitude just unbearable
Lack of staff.
Safety and security isn't that great, I believe due to the lack of staff. ( Already saw 8-10 years old kids running around inside the gym and using some of the equipments).
People constantly recording in the gym using tripods and cameras. Setting it in the middle of the gym.
To many gym goers hanging on the equipment for long minutes.
Lots of equipment and personal stuff left on floor ( dumbells, weighs, barbells, gym bags, shoes, etc).
Wifi signal isn't great
Gym wifi never works properly
The biggest downfall with this gym unfortunately is some of the other inconsiderate gym members. My biggest gripe with this gym is the utter lack of respect by some members using shared facilities. Equipment is never put back properly and users will leave 50kg+ on the barbell and walk off or leave equipment in circulation routes. Mats and dumbells/kettlebells are left all over the place. At peak times, groups of teenagers will monopolise a piece of equipment and take a while to get through their routine. To caveat, I have had friendly interactions with other gym goers too.
There is a good range of equipment and I have noted they have repaired bits of the equipment often (assisted pull up, benches, calf raise, new cable attachments etc.). The deadlift platforms needs a refresh as they have quite deep dents in them. The recent hip-thrust machine and hack squat machine are an excellent addition - thank-you. I think the gym does need equipment for 45 degree hyperextension which is available at other branches and also more wrap round/foot wrap handles for the cable machines. They seem to appear and then go missing.
The classes I have attended are generally not good, although this will obviously depend on the instructors/type of class. Generally, what I find is that the instructors take no time or effort in explaining and correcting form. I think The Gym Group in general should consider paying some of their instructors more so that they can be a bit more hands on in helping users with form and minimise the risk of injury.
Overall I think this gym is fine for getting the job done for individual strength training.
