I’ve just done my first solo flight and Graham’s emphasis on safety and building confidence meant it all went well! He’s in demand but I can’t wait to get more hours flying in!

I love learning to fly! With COVID and winter weather it has taken a while but getting closer having now done 2 solo flights. Graham is very patient and when learning new skills explains, demonstrates, does them along side you and then you try yourself, that has been a great way to learn for me. The club at the airfield is very welcoming with experienced pilots inviting newbies on fly outs helping to keep motivation going!

St Michael Airfield, home to Northern Microlights Flight School Run by the excellent CFI, Mr Graham Hobson. Having trained and gained my Licence going back 4 years ago the creeping of "doing it your own way" started to become the new norm as you explore and take time learning with whatever the British weather and variety of terrain throws at you. Fortunately every 2 years your Licence Revalidation comes around and this year proved to be the reset I believe every Pilot should have. Graham doesn't just let you fly about, He constantly keeps pushing scenarios until they are comfortable and with better understanding of why "your" way could be to your detriment. Its an hour where you'll leave positive and reflective of what you did wrong, and now how to do it again in the correct manner. Great instructor and a great airfield.

I am currently learning to fly with Northern Microlights and can honestly say I am having the time of my life. My instructor Graham has a mountain of knowledge and experience and his instruction is excellent. I would highly recommend Northern Microlights if you are thinking of learning to fly.

I cannot recommend Northern Microlights enough. Learning to fly has been an incredible experience. The instructors are extremely thorough, patient and make you feel safe. Their experience and knowledge are absolutely second to none. If you’ve ever dreamt of flying this is the place to start!
