Bought a carpet; staff were friendly and approachable; they leave you to take however much time you want making your choices, but answer any questions you have. Service was provided by Anthony, who was knowledgeable about the carpets, helpful and informative. He double-checked our measurements, costed everything for us before we agreed to purchase anything, including underlay and fitters, and broke down what to expect for the delivery and fitting of the carpets. Can't fault the in-store service today!

UPDATE: In store they stated they'd phone the following Tuesday to arrange carpet delivery; they phoned first-thing on the Wednesday morning. Very helpful and friendly service on the phone. On the promised day, the fitters phoned us 15 minutes before arrival, which was about half-an-hour before the previously agreed time slot. They fitted the carpet in less than an hour, cleaned up after themselves, and left us with a very well-fitted carpet. There was fluff to hoover up (as expected). The carpet has been lovely to walk on ever since.

So, from in-store service, to fitters and beyond, this has been a very clockwork, no-drama experience, and the carpet is doing its job very well. Would definitely use them again.

Great service in store today, Ashley was very knowledgeable and welcoming and also had plenty of time for us.
Much better service than the other Carpet retailers we visited on this estate this morning.

Ordered a carpet from their luxury range, starting price £64 per square meter.
Waiting nearly 2 weeks for delivery. Arrived and they ordered me the wrong size.
Carpet fitters had to be cancelled that day.
They said they couldn't get another 1 for around 10 days. So I asked for a refund and ordered elsewhere.
Picked exactly the same carpet from another carpet shop. Same carpet, £11.99 per square meter. Absolutely disgusting they advertise it as luxury when it's from the basic range. So upgraded carpet with new place , still for a lot less than they charged.

Fast forward over 2 weeks, I have the new carpet arrive and fitted. Yet still no refund from carpetright.
After many many ignored emails and many phone calls, still no refund. Absolutely disgusting service from carpetright , I will never ever step foot into their stored again.

Fobbed off numerous times, still waiting for over a thousand pound refund.

TL;DR - Shop elsewhere, avoid Carpetright Newport.

TL - Initial experience was fine, ordered samples and booked a site visit at my property to measure up a stair, landing, bathroom and 2 bedrooms.

It all went downhill after the quote was issued post measurements.

I was called by the store manager the morning after to complete on the sale. At this point, I had only received 2 of the 4 samples ordered and not chosen a carpet. The manager was asking me to make a full payment and complete based on the quote given.

I was assured that the samples were re-ordered but they never were, the manager had no intention of providing customer service after I told him I won't be completing on the initial quote, you could even hear it in his voice over the phone that he had lost interest.

I called back a week later and the week after that. The same manager dealt with me again and again, assuring me that the samples were on their way. He even had the cheek to tell me that he had just been looking at my order before I called; yet when asked, couldn't tell me the carpet samples I'd ordered. Cheap "valued customer" tactics don't affect me, I work in sales, but if you're going to try it on, at least have the emotional intelligence to make it sound genuine.

At this point I wrote off the purchase with Carpetright and took my business elsewhere. Extremely poor customer service, expected a lot more from a store manager.

My carpet has been sat in the Carpetright warehouse for over a month - I just want it fitted! I've now had 2 appointments for fitting where the fitter has failed to turn up. It's impossible to contact the store and customer service centre just fobs me off. My furniture is piled up in the hall and I've got guests arriving next weekend - what can I do?
