Since owning this vehicle, from new, I have had nothing but issues.
At 20k miles I had dpf issues, it's a diesel st that does mainly motorway mileage.
At 40k the water pump failed, at which point Ford fitted a new timing belt and water pump.
Shortly after this my engine management light came on among other fault lights. I could smell Diesel.
After taking the car to an independent garage they located the issue. The Ford mechanic at Tamworth had not reconnected the fuel line. There was Diesel all over the Engine that had been starved of fuel.
Fast forward a few months, I'm driving home, I hear a loud noise and boom the car cuts out on me, it won't start.
After diagnosis by another Ford dealership, I found out that the Timing belt tensioner stud nut had come loose causing the Timing belt to come loose and the Engine to jump timing. Effectively my car is now a write off.
The only reason this could have happened after speaking to multiple experts, is because the stud nut was not correctly tightened by the Ford Tamworth mechanic that fitted the timing belt. It is a mechanical error.
After a long stressful process with Ford customer relations Centre (they make you wait a minimum of 24 hours between every call back).they have offered to partially cover the repair and have stated their offer is non negotiable and valid for 30 day. Their offer is £5100, the total repair job will be a minimum of £7300 plus Vat. Though this may change if it has caused gearbox damage.
They have said, and these were Declan's exact words ' There is no way of proving this is down to our mechanical error'. Implying that they know it was, but apparently I cannot prove this.
There is no other reason for a stud nut that should have been torqued off to manufacturers standards to have come loose other than it being down to a mechanical error.
Appalling customer service, avoid
Could not have asked for better.
How difficult would it have been to communicate with the workshop that the car should be ready for us by today ...or to communicate with me before i left home that it was not?
Deffo one to avoid
I highly recommend a visit if you are looking to purchase a car.
Thank you Jack 😊
I informed a member of staff to ring me at a certain time to go over my refund, this member rings me 5 mins before his shift finished and was then off work, and ‘couldn’t process this until he was back’.
I was then told this Tamworth branch can’t put through refunds and I had to pass my bank details over AGAIN, so this could be passed to the Sutton account team to process?
I’ve heard no information back from this 20th December- I’ve contacted 2 members of staff since this date and I’m getting no communication back? 8 days and counting to process a refund?!
Im appalled at how this service has turned out.
