Can someone please explain to me how they managed to book an appointment for passport renewal? I have been trying online for the last 3 weeks, checking almost every hour and get the same reply "No vacancies available". I have emailed and phoned them and got the same reply both times....that it can only be done online and they cannot help me. So if the only way to do it is online, and the online system is clearly not working then how am I supposed to book!?

A little bit slow but understandable as they are very busy. Everyone was polite with me and the security called Gomes was very nice and funny. I love Portuguese people, they remind me of my parents personality so I have a lot of respect for them ☺️🙏

I was skeptical with the reviews I saw much like you probably are. However, it was the opposite to the poor reviews I read. My appointment was at 11am and I was seen to at that time. I had to get my Portuguese nationality and Isaias was wonderful and sorted it out very efficiently and was very helpful with sorting out the documents and explained everything very well. The women on the counter where I payed was also very friendly and jokey which made the experience better.

Very poor service there is an appointment system but still have to wait hours inside the consulate. Also the child registration requires both parents and the child to be present which is a hassle due to wait time to get an appointment and then the time spend at the appointment. A birth registration in the local council takes one parent and no child is needed present, so why this hassle. Also appointments are not available through the consulate and the links provided for online booking. I attended the consulate recently and I was advised to give feedback so I am writing this review. I understand there is a process but this is ridiculous as the process is long and the wait for an appointment takes months.

I must say I was expecting my experience to be bad reading reviews here. However, it was absolutely amazing. I was prepared with my documents and anticipated the questions to be asked. The staff were so polite. The system is so organised. The way they handle Work load is so professional. Absolutely amazed with the quality of service. I went in to renew my passport.

More than a year trying to schedule a national id card renewal online, the service simply doesn’t cope with demand. Unfortunately this has been going on for years now…

To make matters worse, calling doesn’t help as the answer is always only accepting bookings online.

Edit: finally managed to schedule online (not without having the system fail a few times even after confirmation).
People at the consulate are polite, and the waiting time was average.

I was very skeptical after reading the reviews, but I have got to say, I have experienced the complete opposite... it took 10 days for them to reply to my appointment request, 1 month waiting till my actual appointment to renew my ID card which was scheduled for 9am, okay they were about 5-10 minutes behind but, I was out of there by 10:40am... very friendly service, both at the desk and at the payment desk, a very good service to our community 👍

For months trying to book an online appointment to renew ID and passport and they never have time slot available. It has being going for years, when will it change? Even when we call the only think they say, no space, can't help, keep trying. For how long? Last time I've tried for nearly 6 months until be able to book an appointment.
