This site covers a good area but there is not much to see. There is an exhibition in one hall. A parade ground and walking around the gun emplacements.
Parking right outside.

Initially went as the site has been used in many film/TV productions, might be off the beaten track but worth a visit. It's a fairly large site and only a few of the buildings remain but still enough to look around and learn. It's placed right next to the mouth of the Thames and has been there since the 16th century. You can see how the site has evolved over the years and has some interesting facts spread around the site. There are various retired guns around the fort to keep kids entertained, but to be honest there isn't much for the younger ones. All the staff were extremely friendly, and even the isolated location made it worth a visit.

Its OK for a short time but there isn't much to see. Probably great with small children as there are lots of places to run around and play war. Several places that you need to keep an eye on the kids as many long drops. Staff are friendly and helpful

Lovely place to visit along the Thames. Friendly staff and fantastic views. A must visit for all the family especially the kids during the holidays to get them out!

Really loved visiting the Fort on a Sunday afternoon in glorious weather. Really well kept place and staff were brilliant, admittedly could have been slightly more to see in way of exhibitions but on whole really lovely place

Good place to spent one evening with FnF to enjoy the nice breeze over The Thams and also enjoy the nice view. Kids can run in the open space and learn some history.

Tilbury fort is part of English Heritage. I definitely enjoyed the visit. Big open area to walk around. My favourite part was the the tunnels. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
If you are visiting with kids they will certainly have enough space to run around and explore the fort.
Free parking on site.

The staff are friendly and extremely informative and helpful.
Such history needs support and appreciation.
A visit is essential to understand its purpose and rich historical past.
Loved every second of our visit even though it was a cold late November day.
This is a must visit.
