Furniture By Design

This is the second piece Chris has made for me. The first being a unique , hand crafted dining room table for which we collaborated our ideas, as not only did it have to be a centre piece for our newly redesigned kitchen, but also functional and affordable. Chris excelled himself, with the attention and fine craftsmanship that was put into our stunning feature table.
Therefore, when we needed an artistic masterpiece to adorn our wall , Furniture by Design was the first company that came to mind. We now have an magnificent piece of art (which surpassed all expectations) to complement our dining room table. I am sure this is due to Chris’s creative passion for wood and his supremely high standards, which I might add, don’t reflect in his prices.

Given Chris’s creative and artistic skills I am sure that there is nothing he can’t do with wood.

Unique, creative and just what we wanted. Chris has made an entire oak kitchen suite, an elm coffee table, a blanket box, an external door and a window sill for us in recent years. We live in an old house which has lots of character of its own, so our brief is for something that complements rather than competes, but with the benefit of modern fixings and construction. We put forward our initial ideas and Chris expands on these, setting out various options, what is feasible and cost estimates. You soon get to a point where you know you are going to like the finished article because every detail is considered with you. Nothing looks as good as solid hard wood, whether it is a modern or more traditional design - but Chris' creations are bespoke and his costings are very reasonable for such high quality.

We refurbished an old 1800's cottage and needed some wardrobes and cupboards built. Chris came and discussed our requirements. All four projects were great - exactly as he calls himself "Furniture by Design" Our walls and floors aren't straight & he managed to make a wonderful job of each item. His attention to detail is second to none. We have just commissioned him to make a free standing piece of furniture. Thoroughly recommend Furniture by Design.

Chris has made many beautiful things for us - a large Wych Elm bookcase, a complex Oak garden gate, office desks, and a beautiful glazed double folding door, where he worked with us and the glass maker to create and assemble a superb and subtle internal feature. His latest office table with a split curved end is simply gorgeous. It is always great fun to work with Chris, and see his inventive craftsmanship turn ideas into beautiful objects.
Chris is a perfectionist whose accuracy in working wood is amazing.
