Bell Plantation

A very nice garden centre with a large selection of poultry to look at. They also have a nice cafe and a children's indoor play area that is good for young children. The independant reptile shop there is also worth a visit as they have lots of nice lizards, snakes and fish to look at.

Great garden center. Lots of different areas to walk around.
With the various shops... Vintage, pet, art gallery and the main garden center.

It has a now extended cafe/restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

The poultry area outside is always nice to see the birds.

I come back here regularly.

Used to like meeting up in cafe for lunch. However the last couple of times the food has been poor. Thought we'd give it another chance on Saturday and had to return a very stale scone. They replaced it with another which was better but by no means fresh.
Ordered a seperate portion of chips. Which came out on plate of another meal which wasn't great.

Visited today for the first time , lots of lovely Christmas bits , enjoyed the displays. However went to get something to eat in the cafe ordered a TOASTED cheese , tomato and red onion sandwich. It was disgusting 😒 soggy inside with no cheese and what looked like the bits if tomato out of the bin , dirty cutlery as well. Not sure if we will eat there again.

We went to the cafe and it was absolutely rammed! Waitresses were nice and informed us of about a half hour wait on food. We ordered through the QR code and waited just shy of one hour before our food arrived. We had to wait half an hour just for drinks!

When it arrived, we found blue paper towel in our salad, but when raised with the waitress, they weren't overly apologetic but did bring us another salad bowl.

Food was nice, just a shame on the wait.. I think during busy times, perhaps reducing the amount of tables might be a good idea? Oh, and also changing the cake display as the chocolate cake had mould on it. Disappointing.

My recent experience of the Bell Plantation Cafe was disappointing. The Breakfast menu is stated to be until 11.00am. There was some confusion at being able to order 3 x bacon rolls at 11.54am, but staff were unwilling to accommodate scrambling an egg at this time but were happy to fry one. I questioned the rationale behind this and was told that the egg scrambling pans had been put away. As this was for my elderly, vegetarian Mother I found the service unaccommodating, the rationale quite frankly ridiculous and the service poor. Unfortunately I will not be returning as this is my second unsatisafactory experience at this establishment

The garden centre was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and as always we enjoyed wandering round; we love coming here.

However when we went for coffee and cake we found that the crockery in the cafe hadn't been cleaned very thoroughly. We went on Saturday 4 Dec and also the following day but on both days it was clear the crockery hadn't been properly washed/rinsed. We raised this with a member of staff but all he did was wipe it with a (not very clean) cloth, so in the end we took the cup to the washroom and rinsed it in the sink. So I've only given them 3 stars.

I do hope they improve the kitchen hygiene, as otherwise this is a great venue and highly recommended, and i would give it 5 stars.
