I followed our agreement up in writing and Mr Hail phoned me to reconfirm the mileage and that they would paint the underneath of the van for an extra £200 etc.
However I arrived to pick up the van on 15 June and Mr Hail said I would now be dealing with his son -Saul Hail . When I was leaving the garage I noticed the mileage to be nearly 57000 miles. Saul said we would speak to his father. I felt Mr Hail got quite nasty to me when I questioned the mileage and said he must have made a mistake. I suggested a discount but that was not for consideration.
I would also suggest getting the van checked out before you purchase. Since purchasing I have had to replace all the brake pads as they were down to the metal. I had an oil leak from the engine and another oil leak which required the vehicle being taken into a specialist in Grange mouth. The warranty for me has not been worth the paper it’s written on as each time we phoned we are told the van was not covered under warranty. I believe if I had been a man I would have been treated with a bit of respect and I would have received some compensation. Please be aware
I did go ahead with the purchase although I had been misled by Mr Hain senior. I had emailed the company ,sometime ,before travelling from Portobello to Dairsie to confirm the service had received my email which was headed up Mazda Bongo 45000 miles and I was told they had . Unfortunately when I arrived the vehicle they sold me had 56000 miles on the clock .
In the first six months a number of things went wrong with the vehicle . Unfortunately the company had no contingency plans when a vehicle they have sold in the first six months is of unsatisfactory quality. I only had one vehicle at the time so I was unable to leave the van in Dairsie. In addition , the warranty was not worth the paper it was written on as nothing seemed to be covered under warranty and the garage could not provide me with a courtesy car and were very reluctant initially to even look at the van .
Although Mr Hain was successful initially I appealed the initial judgement to the Appeal Court. Mr Hain has conveniently forgot to tell you that the appeal was successful.
