Quaint and comfortable. If you don't mind just a place to crash with shared bathroom facilities. Lovely hot shower and clean towels.

Friendly hosts, clean room and nice location, not far from a bus-stop.
About 20minutes walk to the town centre if you know the route.

THIS GUESTHOUSE OVER PROMISES & UNDER-DELIVERS! Noone administrates this guesthouse. There were no instructions about how to lock a complicated double glazed door or what to do with the key on leaving. I went to my room and immediately noticed the lack of an headboard. The bed was backed up against a radiator making it extremely likely that you would strike the back of your head against the radiator. Opposite the bed, in a very small room, was a ceiling projection of the 'eaves' of the roof. These eaves were at shoulder height making a third of the room only accessible on your knees. There was no warning sign or strip in a highly visible colour to remind you to duck towards the furthest side of the room near the eaves/projection into the room, so I hit my head. I put up my own improvised coloured strip along this dangerous projection into the room to remind myself to duck!

The horror, the horror - I could barely believe the state of the shower. It was covered in black mould and had a grimy glass shower cubicle. I cleaned it myself, but still could not bring myself to use it for fear that I might catch bacterial pneumonia or some nasty skin disease! (Please see my photographs). We have to bear in mind that this guest house charged £31.50 per night - my stay was for one week. Right now they are asking £1350 a week for a 3 bed family room? Their pricing system is deluded. I would be too ashamed to ask anyone to stay in my home if my shower cubicle looked like the one in the Cottage Garden Guesthouse, Llanbadarn Fawr.

No cleaning of my room took place the entire week, not even one dustbin was emptied. Right at the start I had great difficulties finding the Guesthouse and the receptionist I spoke to, Helena, did not give me adequate directions. The problems with this place just kept on coming. I had been given a tatty broken bed base that continually squeaked! The mattress on top was far too soft, so that it felt as if one was sleeping on a sloppy giant marsh mallow - too soft mattresses are just as bad for one's back as too firm ones. When I lay on the mattress, it threatened to tip me out of the bed and subsequently started to fold itself in on me, in the middle, horizontally, with me in the centre - It must have looked like a Bed and Human Being Sandwich!! I'll just list the other things which were wrong to save time: Cobwebs and rust on the air vents over the doors to the bedrooms; dirty cord to the bathroom light; No blind to the bathroom window, so passers-by can see quite well into the bathroom; Broken blind in bedroom; dirty, grubby bedroom carpet; dirt on carpet at the head of the bed; the floating wooden staircase swayed as you walked up it; there was a suspicious looking long ceiling crack running from the floating stairs to the front of the house; there were two large broken floor tiles in the conservatory/breakfast room which would have been an extreme danger for anyone with mobility issues; and finally, the house has no sound insulation from downstairs to upstairs and between the bedrooms - when someone sneezes in the next bedroom, you have the opportunity to say 'bless you'- everyone hears everything!

Avoid this place at all costs. Damp, mouldy and decrepit. We booked through airbnb for a week summer holiday. We travelled 6 hours, stayed 1 night, and left first thing the following morning. There were mushrooms growing from the ceiling, mould everywhere, missing tiles....A kitchen would be an over statement, there was a sink and oven with some very old, mouldy , damp cabinets.... Very, very disappointing and upsetting. we feel scammed and cheated.
