In need of an urgent yet good haircut, prior to my next forensic human-rights photo reportage assignment, I popped into this appealing little hairdressing salon, which I have walked past on several occasions. To my astonishment, the delightful young lady announced she was only qualified to cut women’s but not men’s hair. Since I was in something of a hurry and, by this time, also curious quite how complex a task cutting men’s hair might actually be, I remained adamant she should take on the innocuous challenge of liberating me from my tumbleweed hair. Suffice to say, the courageous as well as charming young lady – whose attractive name has alas completely escaped my memory – performed a truly splendid job, was highly professional, extraordinarily well-spoken (how many people still instinctively know hair is both a countable and uncountable noun and, thus, doesn’t feature an s in its plural form?), and, perhaps most important of all, she was an obvious natural talent cutting men's hair. With all this in mind, I can highly recommend this excellent establishment and shall very happily return for ever and a day – or at least for as long as I remain living in this neck of the woods.
