James was amazing and knew exactly what my hair needed, I hadn't been in for a few weeks however its looking more on point now, really recommend this salon. Customer service is great and everyone is very welcoming and friendly

Had my hair cut by James in the Newport branch in May 2021. He completely butchered my hair. I was donating my hair to charity and had asked to have around 7 inches off, the same length all the way around. I specifically said I didn't want a bob, and my hair was long enough that with 7 inches off it would have been way past my shoulders. James cut off 15 inches of my hair. He began by cutting off my pony tail so after that point there was literally nothing i could say to stop what he'd done. He continued to give me an angled bob which I believe he did because some areas of my hair at the back were so short that if he'd have cut everything the same length i'd have been left with no hair. When he finished, he could clearly see how upset i was and said 'Don't blame me, its not my fault.' My hair was different lengths either side of my face and a chunk at the back was much shorter then the rest. My hair was so short I couldn't tie it up for months.

After speaking with Burlesque I was told to go into another branch to have it fixed, where the guy (I believe he was the owner, but i can't remember) tried his best to fix my hair and soften the shorter areas at the back the best he could, and try and cut it shorter at the front so it wasn't so angled. He made it look a little better but honestly there wasn't much he could do to fix James' mess. I was given a refund, a bag of 'goodies' and a £60 voucher for another hair cut. I never went back to use the voucher.

James completely ruined my hair, destroyed my confidence and gave me anxiety about going to hair salons. It is now a year later, I still haven't been to have it cut again but its finally at a length that I'm happy with.
James didn't listen to what I wanted and decided to do whatever he wanted with my hair, then acted like it was my fault afterwards. I have never left a bad review before but considering how long it took for my hair to grow out and how many months I cried over it I feel that this is completely necessary

I am thankful for Burlesque trying to rectify his mistakes and I'm not doubting them as a salon, my review is specifically for James

I came here after some ropey attempts at changing my hair during lockdown. James was absolutely amazing, doing exactly what I wanted with the colour and it looked absolutely beautiful. You'd never have known he was working with a dodgy canvas!
I've also had appointments with Karis to maintain the colour who is also great!
Lovely atmosphere too. It's not cheap, but for what they do it's a reasonable price.

Love Burlesque always have a lovely service, chat and a cuppa tea. Whether it be a full cut and colour, a colour change or a new style James always understand what I am looking for and I always leave happy, also I have had a brilliant experience with other staff doing up-dos and blowouts for special occasions.

My daughter, who has very coarse, thick and unruly frizzy hair had her hair done by James yesterday who has worked a miracle on it and gave us great advice on how to manage it at home! She came out with hair like silk and beaming ear to ear smiling. Thank you James!!

Get my hair cut by James regularly. Very professional and always a tidy cut. Keep up the good work guys!

Cally touched my hair when my hairdresser refused to. She was amazing got my hair to where I wanted after I tried bleaching it myself the cut was lovely, she was very friendly as were the other staff in there. Highly recommended

Visited this hairdressers just before my sons wedding to tidy my hair up which was very short as it was only just growing back after chemotherapy.
When I walked in the atmosphere was very frosty and staff were niggling at each other. I should have left then but stayed.
The hairdresser said she’d like to cut some off the sides and back to make the top of my hair look fuller and I agreed, at which point she pulled out a set of clippers and shaved the side of my hair off. She proceeded to give me a short back and sides.
It is the worst hair cut I have ever had and absolutely devastating to have my hair shorn off after I’d spent the last 8 weeks growing it back from being bald for months due to cancer treatment.
I left as quickly as I could and I will NEVER go to this hairdressers again. It’s taken me months to write this review as I had to go back to wearing head scarves and chemo hats and my hair has only just recovered.
I would definitely not recommend this hairdressers.
