TONI&GUY Kensington

2 stars is about as positive a my experience can get, and that’s because the manager sat me down asked me if I wanted a drink and on me leaving (without my haircut) listened to my complaint.

I never write reviews, however feel strongly about having to write this one.

I have been having my hair cut at Toni and Guy on Church Street Kensington for c20 years. During that time the service has always been great, even on very busy weekends and just before Christmas etc. that is until today.

Never before have I been ignored by a stylist on arrival, or for the 5 minutes I have been in the salon. Domenico had been 5 meters from me the whole time, I guessed he was my stylist and while curling another clients hair, was still unable to acknowledge my existence. Domenico only acknowledged me as I took my gown off and was asked by another stylist what was wrong, to which I replied I will be leaving, why? Well I have just been ignored by the person I assume is to cut my hair… finally I am acknowledged with distain and contempt for what I assume Domenico felt was me creating a scene. When asked why he hasn’t been able to take a minute to say just finishing up will be with you in 5 or so etc he said I will be finished soon, talk to my manager
turning his back to me and waving a dismissive and derogatory hand in my direction. At this point I was just leaving and half way out the door. When Domenico decided to make a comment about me to the mother/friend of the young lady having her hair curled, it wasn’t an apology for me disturbing their experience I caught that much - I returned to then speak to the manager.

Domenico was stood 5m from the door, 3m from reception and 3m from me at all times, this isn’t my first rodeo, I understand sometimes appointments over run, sometimes walk ins need to be squeezed in etc. no problem with this, I do expect to be acknowledged and treated as a customer not an inconvenience and certainly not with contempt when asking why I haven’t been acknowledged.

Unfortunately I won’t be returning to Toni and Guy. Rude stylists with attitudes on a Thursday at 11:30am is a bit much.

Thanks to the manager for offering to book me another appointment, however it was not convenient for me having work meetings this afternoon and frankly by that point I was very much over the ‘experience’.

I turned up early. The chap at reception greeted me and offered me a drink (I refused) he showed me to a seat and isn't down.I have had my hair cut over several years at this salon and can't say I've ever had to complain. The stylist I was booked in for was Domenico ,I didn't know him (first time) but I thought that the chap tending to a young lads hair was him. Domenico ventually sat me down in a chair and we quickly discussed what I wanted ,he then returned to his young subject. Chap at reception gowned me and washed my hair (good wash) and returned me to the cutting chair. Domenico took over and...I'm bloody pleased with the result! Well done chap at reception and thank you Domenico. I'll be back. 😁

I had 25 inch long hair, plenty to work with, I was after a long layered cut and to take 5 inches off for a fresher look. I ended up with this...It is the worst haircut I have ever had in my life, and I am really upset because I have to wear my hair in a pony for work. It is now so uneven it is like a child has took a pair of scissors and cut my hair, this was cut by a senior stylist....They have offered for me to go back to the same stylist which I don't feel comfortable doing. I have never had a cut like it, I now am going to have to pay for another cut somewhere else so this is going to end up costing me £190 and will have to be cut a lot shorter to repair the damage done. I have been going to Toni and Guy for years and have never had any cut in my life as bad as this one... Really upset...

I popped in for an unplanned haircut yesterday hoping to get a decent blow-dry, chop and restyle. Unfortunately what I got what absolutely awful! I showed the hairdresser a picture of what I wanted and she seemed to um and ar a little about it and say things I didn't really understand about what she was going to do.. I kinda just trusted as usually hairdressers just seem to understand from photo references, anyway, after having my hair washed (no head massage) she spend only 5 minutes trimming the length and adding layers that I didn't really want. Anyway, she then put these silver clips in my hair and started drying my hair with a diffuser dryer for curly hair but didn't actually touch my hair, the dryer was burning my face and when I was looking at her in the mirror, she wasn't paying attention at all. She just stood still on each patch of hair, she then took the clips out and said what did I think. I was a bit shocked that, that was it. My hair was frizzy, unstyled and looked a mess quite frankly. My hair was also still very wet at the back. I struggle to speak up sometimes because i always feel so guilty but if there were more professionals around they would have maybe noticed and said something to her. I was charged £70 for a fringe basically and left very unhappy. I could have done this myself. Terrible service.

I got a cut from director Kun. It's been a long time since I've been 100% satisfied at a hair salon, so it was great. Will visit again next time!!!:)

I’ve been going to the same hairdresser for years. I decided to try Toni and Guy and booked in with Daria for a haircut. I’ve never been happier with my hair!!!! I went for a short cut and feeling brave and trusting Daria immediately, we decided to go for a fringe!!! I can’t believe how perfect my cut is.

I’ll only be having my hair cut my Daria now! I cannot recommend her enough!

I have used Toni and Guy in Kensington ever since I moved to London. They are a very professional and friendly team who always do whatever they can to make you feel comfortable. The first stylist I tried was Daria, and I have stuck with her ever since. She’s always welcoming and always does a fabulous job on my hair!

Toni&Guy are always great. Booked at High Street Kensington branch as it is so close to work and got Daria by chance. Daria really listened, made suggestions and took great care and trouble and I was Really (with a capital "R" on purpose) happy with the outcome. Staff are all super friendly and I was back to work in no time! Great value for money! Thanks Daria xx
