SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL and THEY WILL SUPPORT YOU.

A much needed and welcome local staple. So important to have quality businesses such as this supported in the area, and we love that they are supportive of their customers too. We couldn't find something that we needed and they happily ordered some in so that we could purchase from them. It arrived in two days (so comparable and preferable to Amazon!).

At a time where it is important to support local businesses I would highly recommend this shop. You can get anything and if its not in stock or you want something they do not stock they will order in in for you. Excellent service to boot. Highly recommend

Went in to get some screws for my TV stand however they didn't have the correct size available. I was then sold some screws which were too long and a saw, with the advice that I could cut them down to the correct size. I took them home and had a go and the saw snapped immediately. When I asked for a refund I was refused, and told I could have another saw. Nightmare! What a waste of money.

Really appreciate owners would setup Google Maps messages so I can chat with store directly. Found myself visiting many times waiting for items to come into stock. Be great if I could just check by using messages over Google maps? - Now, as for review. Really appreciate this little DIY store. Have to admit to many visit to find lots of different items needed for garden, bathroom, kitchen and general DIY around the home.

I got a pot of paint mixed here, to touch up our kitchen walls. I’ve bought the same mixed paint from Homebase many times over the years and used it on the same walls with the same equipment without an issue. This time, buying it from Lavender Hill DIY store, the paint looks foamy even in the tin, and immediately bubbles as I apply it. I can knock the bubbles out of it with a brush, but then the finish doesn’t look great, and it becomes a time-consuming job. I called the store, and they just kept asking again and again whether the wall was papered, newly plastered or damp and insisting it couldn’t be their fault, rather than giving any constructive suggestions. The wall is none of those things, it seems this is just badly mixed or old paint. It felt quite haphazard in the store, with the storekeeper seeming a bit absent minded and then spontaneously deciding to give the pot an extra vibrate when he wasn’t sure what had already been done, so perhaps it was over mixed?

I would give them zero stars if I could just based on a phone call.

- Hello, can I check if you still sell a certain paint from Dulux?

- What is the name of the colour? (background noise of a woman saying “can I have my money back please? I think it was a TV show)

- The name is “so and so”

- I don’t remember on top of my head so I need to input in the computer but the computer is downstairs. You’ll need to come in person.

- oh, I am calling to check if it’s worth the journey to get to you, because if you no longer mix that paint I would need to make different arrangements.

- The computer is downstairs you need to come here and the computer will tell me.

- Are you ok? I can here a woman complaining in the background…

No answer, then I realise it was a TV keeping him busy. Sorry I didn’t mean to interrupt you asking you to check your stock for me.
I’ll make sure when I come to store I bring some popcorn for you.

Thank you for being so unhelpful!

Great local shop. Friendly and helpful staff, good product range and one of those shops where they somehow have everything you need.
As a female in a hardware shop, I found the staff friendly and helpful and not patronising at all - would recommend
