THORNS DIY

Haven’t been into Thorns for years, but recently moved into a city centre apartment so Thorns is now my local hardware store.

As someone who is new to DIY and general maintenance of a home, the gentleman working in the store were very helpful and immediately directed me and partner to the area of the store we needed.

I placed my first delivery yesterday, what a brilliant service, delivering here to Kessingland, a small charge but worth it.

And for all the whinging reviewers……. How lucky are we to such a great shop like this in the centre of Norwich ✔️ I suppose there are one or two grumpy sales assistants 🙄 but,,,,, there are probably a lot more customers who need personality by-passes too! It costs nothing to be friendly and courteous to assistants ✔️

We popped in today and it was lovely to experience such great customer service. Everyone was very helpful and made conversation, which is rare these days. 😊

I went in to Thorns, a shop I have used for many years, on 9thJanuary at 3.15pm, to buy some batteries. There was a young man behind the desk in the basement walking up and down with his hands in his pockets and not making eye contact. I asked him very politely a question to which I got a surly "yes". I put my purchase on the counter and he said "£3.60 ". I told him that I wanted to pay by contactless. He put the cost in the card machine but didn't move it towards me so I just stood there until he moved it. Thorns should not be ruining their reputation by employing people with very bad attitude.

Came here ten minutes before closing looking for a specific tool so I could fit my new shower pole.

It wants a specific head which I don't have so I took it to the shop with me.

Staff very knowledge and helpful, would come here again over any other DIY store in Norwich.

I felt compelled to write this review as have used this store a few times over the past few months and found their customer service very good. The store has almost everything you need and wanted to support this independent company during these extraordinary plandemic hard times. I needed a sledge for my child and they did not have them in stock, but arranged for me to collect from them the next day (they even bothered to telephone me back to update me as promised). You will NOT receive this standard of customer service from the likes of Amazon or any of the large DIY chains. WE MUST SUPPORT THE HIGH STREET AND THESE INDEPENDENT BUSINESSES.

This is a good store, but could be so much better , after my recent experiences, they don't keep up stock control very well, they are not customer focused at all, a poor old lady before me wanted some chain who had been waiting for sometime, a man came out of the office on the second floor, and didn't even speak, and pass her and myself by, I decided to put my items back as I couldn't be bothered to wait, and could see they didnt want my business, as
I can get all my item from Amazon that I need I will continue to shop online, which I also get great service from.
It wouldn't hurt for the staff to be more focused on the customer satisfaction, I believe the time are changing, unfortunately this store is going further into the past which is such a shame as it's such a great store or could be.
