Cotham Hardware

I am new to the Bristol area (and new to the UK, in fact), and I went into this store to get a few essentials for my new flat. The people there were very friendly and helpful, and even though the place appears small, it had everything I needed and loads more. I would definitely recommend this place!

When I was growing up, hardware shops were a community stalwart. However, it seems times have changed and they're now quite hard to find. I was very pleased to find Cotham Hardware which has a very helpful and friendly owner. They stock everything from dinky teapots and kitchen gadgets to feather dusters and lightbulbs, and when you need something in a hurry it's far nicer to spend your money locally rather than buy online.

Firstly the couple that run the shop are very sweet and funny.

I've been here many times and always just popped in and out with what I needed. This time I wanted to separate some old boards that were stuck tight with rusted nails. The brilliant lady behind the desk suggested a simple crowbar and it was only £4.99. Did the job in no time at all!

Needed wooden clothes pegs. I got some here. They are a good size, (90mm long) made from a hardwood so that they will last. They have a fairly strong spring which means that the clothes have a better chance of staying on the washing line. Thank you to the store owners.

Whatever you do, do not go to this place! It is run by the rudest couple I came across in a shop environment... Perhaps they have no life and have been doing this for 30 years and it made them miserable but there can be no excuse for acting the way they do. Regretting every penny I spent in that one purchase I made from them. Needless to say that they were ‘nice’ when I first walked in to buy something but horrible when I walked in to complain about the item.

Really helpful couple every time I’ve been in and that’s now 5 or 6 times. Much better than the chain hardware stores

Very friendly local hardware shop that has a great range and has helped me out on multiple occasions.

Have always had everything I’ve wanted and they’re really friendly and helpful! Very reasonably priced - from shoelaces to L plates, they’ve got you sorted :)
