What a fantastic shop! It really has a wealth of goods and good old traditional values. Quality is key and friendly charming staff make it such an appealing place to gather those goods. Competitive prices - and as I discovered many things cheaper than the poorer quality chain store alternatives. Would recommend.

Really excellent service at Castles. The staff are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Shop is jam packed with all sorts of hardware items - well worth going there first instead of one of the large corporate DIY stores.

Fantastic gem of a shop. There really is nothing else quite like it. The staff are always helpful and friendly - despite having to count out anything from 4 to 140 individual screws for me on several occassions! Whoever buys this shop, please keep it exactly the same!

These guys are the best. I've been renovating a house for the last 6 months and have been in to the shop most days for odds and ends. Nearly always have what i want, always offer advice and are always eager to help. They remind me of an old fashioned hardware store where you walk in with a list of items and they go round the store and collect them for you.

Life-savers. A note about remarks like "expensive". Little hardware stores like this will save your life on those dire occasions when you can't order on the web: instant need, or physically examining a bit that must be exactly right. So it's an idea to give them some of your business, even if they're more expensive than ebay. Remember, ebay stores don't pay high-street rents and mostly not biz-rates, either. If you don't spin these guys some of your business, one day you'll wake up and find they're not there.
BTW a while back these guys told me where to look for a bit that nobody - but nobody - could find for me. They got nothing out of it. I escaped a major headache.

These chaps are the best team I've worked with for a long time. Their workmanship is excellent, nothing is too much trouble & super at problem solving. They sourced &refitted 2½bathrooms, with all that entails, from the porcelain, the plumbing, the tiling, etc. They redid the whole property's floors with Quickstep and moved endless still packed boxes to do so. AND they are still smiling! Ask for Gary!

Excellent customer service from Maxwell, he helped me find the correct countersunk screws and saved me £10 on the price compared to screwfix. A great local independent business for all your DIY needs.

As a small child my father would always take me to this store, he loved mooching around. Dad was a customer of theirs for well over fifty years until he passed away in 1996, at the age of 84. Since my Fathers passing, I have visited this Store too on numerous occasions, along with my Husband, who loves DIY.

Today 27th February my Husband and I once again attempted to go into Castle Hardware, but this time we were stopped from even entering. Why, because we were NOT wearing a Covid 19 face muzzle, or visor.

There was a professionally printed sign just inside the door, on a stand, with a NO ENTRY sign on it, and a notice explaining that there were NO EXCEPTIONS WHATSOEVER permitted. We tried to explain that we were medically exempt, but the bigot behind the counter refused to allow us in, and then walked away towards the back of the shop.

This shameful treatment is both hostile, and also discriminatory towards disadvantaged patrons.
