Terrible advice and poor customer service. We chose Malcolm Potts for our broken boiler because of reasonable hourly rates, but we would advise people to avoid them at all costs.

The engineer who arrived immediately asked for the boiler manual and merely followed the trouble shooting steps. He checked the gas supply outside, and then advised that the Boiler electronics were broken, and would likely cost hundreds of pounds to replace. His recommendation was to go straight to the manufacturer and take their call out and parts service at a cost of £300. Malcolm Potts himself called me to make this recommendation the following morning.

However, when the manufacturer arrived, they found that there was simply no gas supply, which a simple test would have shown. No replacement parts were necessary and this problem should have been found immediately by the Malcolm Potts engineer. We complained to Malcolm Potts and have asked for compensation to cover the considerable unnecessary expense.

As soon as Malcolm knew what had happened, whenever I called Malcolm he was unavailable to speak over the phone, and he never called me back. It took the company 2 weeks (!) to send a letter confirming that they would not charge for their visit. We have asked for compensation above this and they have so far (7 working days) not responded. I strongly recommend you avoid these cowboys.

Used MJ Potts for a few jobs and boiler maintenance. Mixed experience with one of their people, but Noel is terrific and does a great (and tidy) job.

Fab local company. They replaced all of radiators and pipework in our house, removed a bunch of very ancient old hardware, including a wall-mounted boiler and large tank from a bedroom, and installed a new Valiant boiler. Work was quick, no mess, extremely neat and advice offered was sound (three other plumbing and gas companies couldn't figure out where to put a new boiler). The guys were all friendly and punctual too. Three years on, we have them back each year to service the boiler. Very happy to recommend them to anyone who needs a gas and plumbing supplier they can trust. Thanks guys and sorry it took me so long to leave a review (just booking our annual service now).

I used MJ Potts for boiler servicing at our old house and have just had them replace our back boiler based system with a combi. Malcolm was very thorough when specifying for the job and his whole team were excellent. The work required sub contractors who were all fantastic. They job ran to time and the house was left tidy. I will definitely be using them for my upcoming bathroom refit.

Edit. Bathroom is done and is fabulous. Can not recommend MJ Potts enough.

Mr Potts' team have refurbished our very dated bathroom and we think it's the nicest room in our house. They listened to our wishes and helped us get what we wanted at nearly half the price we were quoted elsewhere. They now do all the maintenance (gas, boiler etc) for us. Great service!

According to previous reviews maybe M. J. Potts are good for big projects but I have a very grave experience with them regarding maintenance. Suffering from a leak from my bathroom downstairs to the hallway for more than a month now without a solution. Scheduling successive visits with them is horrible and it seems that they don't actually wish to put efforts in solving the problem.

We were having a few minor jobs done and totally forgot to mention that we had seen some water was discharging outside which was completely unrelated.

Noel was excellent and so experienced that he noticed it anyway. He even heard the source of the leak inside the airing cupboard which none of us had noticed! Thanks to him, we will have the problem sorted which was a pressure relief valve which had failed.
