A stunning part of the world, limestone cliffs, clear streams, green green grass studded with wild flowers and fluffy sheep - what's not to like

Lovely walk around here today.
It was quite muddy in places & you could do with making sure you have the right shoes on. No shops near by so a drink & pack up is a good idea. Highly recommended

Peaceful Dale featuring the upper stretches of the River Dove. Not as busy as Dove Dale which gets rather busy. You can walk down stream from Harrington, or Beresford lane, or circular walks from Harrington although there are steep climbs out of the Dale. Alternatively there is free parking at Milldale and you can walk up stream to Wolfscote dale.

This is a stunning area to walk - more peaceful and less well known than nearby Dovedale. The paths can be accessed from Hartington or near Beresford Dale. We tend to set off from Beresford Lane (very few layby parking spots near to the wooden bridge).

We walk over the bridge and bear right over the grassy meadow until we reach the riverside path, past a small cave up the slope on your left. We then continue on as far as Biggin Dale with it's mine entrance (a trial lead mine adit) alongside the track. If you've parked at Hartington, you can continue on upwards and head left (West) joining Reynards Lane back to where you started as a circular walk. We head back along the same path taking in the views from the opposite direction.

The scenery all along the River Dove is nothing short of gorgeous, with it's deep sloping valley sides and high rocky crags. The rubble path is solid with no hills to climb unless you've a mind to clamber up one of the alternative pathways. It's possible to walk all the way along the main path via Milldale to Dovedale, around 5 miles away. Look out for Buzzards overhead as they nest high up amongst the rocks here. The River Dove has trout to spot too.

Well worth exploring if you're in the area and you fancy an alternative to relatively busy Dovedale.

Been for a lovely walk today. Started in Hartington and walked through Wolfscote, Beresford and Biggin dales. Beautiful scenery and well worth a visit.

Only did about half of the circular walk but it was worth it. Only paid for 2 hours in the carpark. Plan on going back before the summer is over to do the entire walk. The views along the river are absolutely amazing.
