Bucknell Wood, Abthorpe

I love this place. We used to go walking the paths , through the wood when I was a lad. There was a wooden fort. Not been for a while , mind. Great for dogs too

A lovely woods but watch out for the motor bikes who decide that it's ok to ride past splashing walkers and scaring the dogs, in the process causing damage to the path to make the main path top left to the car park as unusable for walkers.

Lovely walk, semi-buggy friendly in winter (hard-core beneath mud in places, but definitely manageable).
Only dropped a star as the car park is miniature. 6-8 cars maxn assuming people have parked courteously!
Toddler and dog friendly!

Fantastic place to walk - so many different trails and spaces to explore - but as others have said, watch out for lunatics on motocross bikes who seem to think they have right of way and can go as fast as they like.

Peaceful wood to walk the dogs. Very limited parking which limits the crowds fortunately. Be aware, it is a live forestry area so at times there will be timber felling and heavy machinery moving around.

This was my favourite woodland when growing up. It is such a shame that a lot of the paths have been blocked off and the maintenance is completed in such an infrequent and aggressive way.
The woods has been left in a very untidy manner by forestry workers who have no regard for the paths that people use.
It is still a lovely place but no where near a beautiful as it once was.

Plenty of good walks but a lot of forestry work going on. Irresponsible dog owners and dogs aplenty!!
