Having been brought up on the west coast of Scotland I am no stranger to a good mountain and Pen Y Fan certainly is a nice walk. I thought I'd do a bit of research beforehand and found all the pictures and descriptions very agreeable.
Now I don't know if if it was just me but I found the reality to be slightly different. As stated it was a nice walk (from the car park) and very enjoyable for me and my girlfriend but I found it a tad challenging. The pictures certainly do not depict the gradient to its true extent.
I must admit this 40+ year old, after sitting around for the last 20 odd years was questioning his life choices. 🥵

Anyone considering Pen Y Fan shouldn't hesitate. Get up there, just do it. You wont be disappointed

An excellent day and an excellent walk and run in an hour. Stunning views on a pretty clear day and no rain or wind 💛

A brilliant walk up the mountain with incredible views, a worth while visit, it’s about a 3 hour walk round trip from the car park to peak and back.

Third time lucky, finally had a view from the top. A lovely walk with lots of options for different routes and spectacular views. There are portaloos available while the new car park is built.

Beautiful, went up for the full moon but no show, enjoyed the sunset instead. Walked up from the Pont ar daf car park, walked down the Storey arms path, this was much quieter. Been many times, will continue to do so.

On average, this walk included walking downhill just as much as walking uphill, so don't worry about the hills. Simply spiffing views from the top of Corn du and Pen-y-Fan. Worth going up on a cloud free day.

No Wetherspoons at the top. There was a family handing out bananas, but apparently only for their own offspring.

Worth going across all 3 peaks on a good day. Saw a lizard at the top of Fan-y-Big. 10/10.

PYF Test Route.
From the wooden swing gate to PYF summit is 1.15m with 460m of ascent and is a good test to see where you are fitness wise.
This is also a Strava segment and a personal fitness test of mine. Tonight I did it in 40min 34secs (one way) with a 5kg sack. No running involved. I normally try to get around 35mins but I am getting older, slower and not a jot wiser. As a runner you can do this in the summer in around 20 mins (in good club running shape).
Good parking area at the bottom.

A steady hike, we visited in pretty bad weather so can't comment views, not too much to the hike just a steady hike up to 800m.

Recommended you wear shoes with grip, we saw people in slippers and the weather was pretty bad near the summit I imagine they'd have turned back due.

Easy enough for kids ands dogs if the weather is okay. Roughly 2 hours for the entire hike a simple there and back

Plenty of amenities at the bottom, toilets and food vans
