its hard to find actual history on this place, but hippies and mystics love it. as a local kid growing up, it was known to be a place for devil worshippers and some saying rituals were seen at witching hour(3am). i have never seen any proof of this. it IS full of hippy pagan stuff though. if anyone wants to know more about the alternative history and myths, i suggest the book "London's Camelot and the Secrets of the Grail" by Chris Street.

A very spiritual place that has many ancient secrets. King Arthur was from Enfield... There I've said it.

The moat itself is nothing special, but if you come here during a lovely walk in the local area, then why not! But I wouldn't come here for the moat alone.

Interesting place with some history to it! There is an info board that gives a bit of background and theories as to what it is and why it is there. Some say it is to do with King Arthur and Camelot.....who knows? Anyway, interesting diversion from the normal footpaths. Used to be a big Oak in the middle of the island that had lots of 'offerings', so slightly spooky.... especially at dusk 👻 xxxx

One of the most quiet places in the park. Very unusual and atmospheric. Also, numerous mushrooms in autumn.

This protected ancient site a worthwhile detour into the surrounding woodlands sustaining and nurturing its mystical allure. Origins, purpose and significance shrouded in veils of conjecture and speculation, tinged by the fairy-dust of lore and creed. Yet, perhaps a sense of ... the primordial pulsing here - “an ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night...” * * extract from “Howl” by Allen Ginsberg. REVISITED 3 Years later. Nothing much changed. Some odd flotsam about.
