Where to find Longplayer

Trinity Buoy Wharf
64 Orchard Place
London
E14 0JY
Visit Trinity Buoy Wharf website

Longplayer can be heard at several public listening posts around the world, as well as its flagship location at the Lighthouse in Trinity Buoy Wharf, London.

The original Longplayer installation, running since the 31st December 1999, is situated inside the 19th century lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf.

In addition to the listening post, 234 singing bowls, used as a part of the 66-foot-wide orchestral instrument to perform Longplayer Live, are on display. The steel structure, designed by Ingrid Hu, was commissioned to display and store the bowls and was installed in autumn 2012. Each tier of the structure, containing 39 bowls positioned sequentially, corresponds to one of the six concentric rings of the Longplayer Live instrument.

Opening Hours: From the 21st June 2009 open every weekend, 11am – 5pm (winter times, October – March inclusive, 11am – 4pm).

Visitors are advised to check the News page for any last minute schedule changes.

Free of charge, though donations are welcome.

Trinity Buoy Lighthouse is a beautiful location which has featured in the Great British Sewing Bee amongst other famous TV shows.
The lighthouse is stunning and has chimes constantly ringing since new years eve 1999 and will play for 1000 years!

We will use the venue for our wedding, but it can be rented for any type of event you are hosting.
The staff there are wonderful and accommodating to all your needs for whichever type of event you want to hold.
There are some really cool containers around the area for great photos, and they also serve drinks at the weekend right on the waterfront.
Views of the O2 and Canary Wharf.

Interesting place to visit with views across the river Lee. Relax in one of the many deck chairs and watch the Emirates cable cars crossing the Thames down stream. Good views of the O2.

Worth doing a Johnny Cash impersonation and Walk the Line (bad joke) from the Olympic Park. The view of the Thames from big multi storied living/working when you look to the west to the gentler early start of the estuary as you look east is special.

Beautiful site across from the O2, this renovated events place is old-new, cool, open air, and tucked away from the masses. Loved the lighthouse and the eternal note bowls thing.

Fabulous wedding. To me London is a place to be avoided, but this day was special. Staff were faultless and made everyone comfortable. Weather made it all the more pleasant. 5 stars deserved.

Went to see Nashville in London here.
Really nice place to relax indoors or outside. Lovely view of London/O2 in the sunset, night lights.

Visited to hear the Longplayer which is the sound of musical bowls that have been programmed to play for 1000 years without repeating itself. Free to enter and open weekends only. There are narrow steep steps to get to the top. Great views from the above.
