Well worth a look. West side of the Cotswolds, just a few miles from Stroud. Painswick is a quaint little village, with this beacon just north, overlooking five counties. Looking south you can see the seven bridge in the distance, and a nice location for a stroll and a few landscape photographs. Not so user friendly for push chairs, or wheelchair users, no toilets also.

Enjoy stunning views of Painswick from this viewing point that sits in the middle of a golf course. Definitely check this place out if you're in Painswick!

A very good quirky golf course with excellent views.

Glorious day we had when strolling up to the Beacon and the Iron Age settlement, only disappointment was the extent to which the golf course had encroached over the entire settlement. Shame and difficult to absorb the atmosphere of the place when golf trolleys are passing by with the constant shouting of “Fore”.

Lovely area for a walk anytime of year, but a frosty Autumnal day with clear views is particularly good. Be mindful of golfers and keep to the paths around the edge.

Lovely 6 mile circular walk from Painswick church car park, over the Beacon and onto Buckholt Woods. Brilliant view from the beacon on a clear day

We love it up here. A 360 view from the ramparts of an Iron Age fort on the Cotswold way, and it's not a big walk, there is parking 400m or so away so it's accessible for those who want a stunning view but not a big hike. We also suggest to our guests at 5VA (Five Valleys Aparthotel) that they book afternoon tea at the Painswick Hotel afterwards (other cafes and pubs are available) to make a fab afternoon out. (We've stopped here after a night ride in Cranham Woods too and watched the sunset)

Beautiful spot for a walk, although mind the golfers if you’ve got dogs off lead!
