Nice historical tower with walking paths around

A nice steady stroll up hill from Lee's road brings you to earl Grey's tower. Lord grey the man who insisted on every man being able to vote. Sadly all blocked up now so only viewable from the outside, some great historical facts worth reading up on before visiting, you can turn around or follow the path to the 9 ladies stone circle then continue on again to cork rock then down the path back towards Lee's road round trip steady walking is 1-1.5 hours uneven underfoot and some good up hill walking, plenty of adventures for kids, perfect for dogs (some seasonal restrictions with lambing etc). Parking on Lee's road is very limited. Beautiful location for photos, hiking, free climbing /jumping. Suitable walk for all weather. So much wildlife roaming and flying around 👌

Totally closed up, no plaque, no information board ... just nothing. Quite shocking given that I believe, according to Internet searches, he was responsible for encouraging voting for everyone

This tower is on the main path, so not hard at all to get to. It is bordered up, so no access inside the tower, which would have been nice to go inside. The tower is in good condition though.

Tower is a bit naff to be honest, you can't go inside and the outside is an unadorned stone tower. No doubt a historian could tell you it was a great example of something or another but for a pleb like me it wasn't all that. The walk up there is lovely though with loads of great scenery and some pretty ruins to look at. You're probably here for the nine ladies if we're honest but it's two minutes away so you might as well have a look while you're in the area.
