A lovely walk! The Mansion looks lovely but at the moment it looks like it's undergoing structural improvements, if you are there to see the Mansion and not to walk around the grounds maybe wait for a month or two to see it in it's full glory.
The grounds in my opinion are the most interesting part, mainly because of the animals and the free aspect :p. Some parts of the trail can be quite challenging as it's steep and muddy in areas but it's a gradual incline so just take your time and wear walking boots :) it's really worth visiting. There is also a mini bus that can take you to and from the Mansion to the car park if you find it challenging to walk long distances, this is about 3 times a day, I'm not sure if it's free or not as we chose to walk instead.
Also don't bother with their car park, you can park up by the free car park and walk across to the entrance of the land but it is a lot steeper to park there than their car park so it's up to you whether it's worth the £3 or not :) The free car park also has an amazing view so if you do choose the trust's car park, stop there before or afterwards to look at the view. Google free car park near me and it should come up once you reach the top of the hill.
All in all a great day out :)

Great location and interesting place to visit, long walk from car park to the house but regular shuttle bus provided if you don't want to walk. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic old building lying on top of soo much history of the land before the house was built. Take the tour, our tour guide was amazing, she just made an instant connection and kept us entertained and informed of the history for almost 1.5 hours.
We need to come back for the ghost hunts they have here as I was taking to a 98 yr old man outside who grew up in the area, he knew loads. The weird thing was tho, he came with us into the reception area and he asked me if I could hear the music from upstairs that he described as swing band / 40s / ww2 era music. Would have loved to talk more with him, but we had just started the tour.

Woodchester mansion is an amazing Grade 1 listed building frozen in time when all construction stopped in 1873 on the passing of it's owner William Leigh. The mansion, managed by it's own trust & volunteers, is a fascinating place to visit to discover it's amazing history. There is a shuttle bus service down the valley from the National Trust car park, cafe & gift shop inside the mansion, toilet facilities, also surrounding woodland walks and a series of ponds with boathouse. Highly recommended to visit!

Beautiful place to walk. The driveway into the car park is a little rough, but parking is plentiful. The walk around the woods is fabulous. Dogs are allowed on lead as there are livestock in places. A little hilly so wear suitable footwear. Wonderful place to visit.

Wonderful scenery small lakes with trails and paths through a valley in Gloucestershire. Great to run, walk, in NT managed woodland and Jacob sheep grazed fields.
Woodchester manor and park is an interesting story, a Neo-gothic style manor which as started 1845 but never completed.

Lovely peaceful scenery. Plenty of trails, beautiful views. Highly recommended. Beautiful house, interesting history and looked after by volunteers. Shuttle bus is handy at the end of the day, when your all tired out.

We really enjoyed our walk around this strange and unusual building. The grounds are gorgeous and worth a visit themselves but we had limited time so just took in the house. Woodchester Mansion is an unfinished building but it's not quite like walking around a modern unfinished building... It really is an insight into architecture - think church meets house - and just how eclectic people can be. The tour was great, well worth a short wait for as otherwise yes the rooms are impressive or odd but you miss the history and the detail of why they're like that. With regards to paranormal experiences we visited in the day so none to report, that said I can absolutely see why folk don't like the cellar... That was a bit unnerving!

So all in all a super day out, would love to see a production here!
