Carreg Samson
Lovely remains of a large chambered tomb. It sits in a field above the bay of Aber Castle gazing out across the Irish Sea. Possibly it started life as a passage tomb.

Once covered by a mound of earth or stones.

1960s excavations found a small quantity of burnt bone, pottery, and flints.

Visited Carreg Samson which has spectacular views and great photographs can be taken here. Again off the beaten track and directions send you to a farm. You can park in the lane by the farm and walk down to the stones which is great for people unable to walk far, but you can walk up to it via the coastal path also.

I don't know much about these things but this is one of the more impressive ones. How they are made is hard to comprehend and with this one, the massive top stone is perched on very small sections of the supporting stone. The weight/square inch pressure at these points must be enormous.

Parked at Abercastle car park and took a little walk along the coastal path, up the steps where there is a sign pointing you in the direction of Carreg Samson. This 5000 year old Neolithic Dolmen just stands out in the field. It doesn't disappoint and well worth the walk. Then just relax and take in the atmosphere complemented by wonderful scenery.

Interesting diversion just off the Pembrokeshire Coast Path near to Abercastle. Smaller than the nearby Pentre Ifan but an interesting visit in a stunning area.

Another little gem hidden on a ridge overlooking the sea. Very near Abercastle it's to be found just off the coastal path (if heading south from Abercastle) about 5 mins walk. The path which is well worth the walk but a lot of ups and downs The capstone is perched beautifully on 3 points another awesome feat by the druids.

Tucked away in Pembrokeshire coast, nearly out of sight, sits this stunning neolithic dolmen - what remains of a 5,000 year old burial mound.

The capstone, some 15' by 9', sits atop of several upright stones. And by gosh does it look impressive.

It's hard to imagine what it may have once looked like, never mind what it was used as over the millennia, but today it looks impressive. And you should go out of your ear to see it.
