A peaceful, homely cottage in scenic countryside with a large, very private, wildlife-friendly garden. There are many nearby attractions and several footpaths in the immediate vicinity but we mostly just enjoyed spending time in the peaceful garden surrounded by trees and a view across the Calke Estate. Planes regularly pass overhead, taking off from nearby East Midlands Airport, but we didn't find the noise too intrusive. This cottage is NOT suitable for people with limited mobility as the path to the front door, from the car parking space, is up a series of steps - quite slippery when wet, the stairs within the property are fairly steep and of uneven heights, with the bedrooms being upstairs and the only bathroom on the ground floor. There is a slight change in level between every room on the ground floor with an especially deep step between the living room and the kitchen and bathroom. The dining room is a bit of a trek from the kitchen: up this big step and through the living room. During our stay, we had a problem with the key safe that was quickly and efficiently resolved with a phone call to a friendly operative on the N.T. holidays helpline. I thoroughly recommend Wicket Nook to anyone able-bodied - and their canine companions would be very happy there too.
